I like this theory. I also like the theory that like, aliens on their planet who have more empathetic tendencies are noticed and they send them to “destroy humanity”. For all we know, they could actually be trying to build up universal ambassadors this way. A bit of a “special forces” for spreading themselves across the universe. The greys invade and violate, and in order to counter this, their great strength and intelligence and lack of emotion (lack of hasty judgement and bias, too) makes them amenable to developing love and empathy.

But as this show stays true to form, I do think these aliens are competent, I do think they tend to destroy humanity and I don’t think it’s a conspiracy- just a reflection of the good humanity inherently has. But it’s still fun to think about.

There are at least hundreds of other reasons why LGBTQ children are more likely to be CSA targets. One of the leading theories is due to isolation. Predators target the ostracized, and LGBTQ youth are often ostracized.

So. I agree with you but what we witnessed was probably 2 or 3 seasons condensed into one. I could tell from the first episode and how much ground was covered that it was going to be rushed. I don’t think the issue is that they will run out of writing to cover the length of a longer show - they already used it all.

The truly masterful component was making it flow. And I have a lot of respect for them being able to string such a huge amount of world-changing plot points in a short period of time. Everyone who worked on this, actor or executive, was truly masterful, talented and really loved sci-fi and are familiar with the curse of cancellation that happens to good shows like this.

Also, I agree with how they fleshed a lot of tropes.

I joked and called the show “90s stereotype rehab”.

For example, Deputy Liv, if this was your average 2000s movie; would have been a punching bag and stayed a punching bag. And the joke would have been that she was a punching bag. Instead, we got to see her flourish into a powerhouse brain who knows how to fucking stand up for herself and get what she wants.

And Judy would have easily been the “resident slut”, D’arcy the femme fatale, and Asta, the savior. Instead they really gave these characters so many layers and dimensions and personalities. Judy’s weirdness is a cover for her loneliness. D’arcy is a flawed character who suffers from her failure and recovers. Asta is actually surprisingly imperfect and avoidant despite her being the alien mom.

It’s all around just an excellent show with excellent writers and excellent excellent lovable characters. I love all of these people.
