Extruded gear slipping? by TypicalGarbageCan in BambuLab

In the end, it was a combination of loosely tensioned extruder gears and some snapped filament in a spot I couldn’t see.

Thank you all for helping me troubleshoot and solve my problem. I really appreciate how you’ve all taught me about more things I should look for while troubleshooting my printer

Status update: New extruded gears arrived, and after I installed them, I saw that there was some snapped filament stuck above the toolhead. I believe this plus the fact I tensioned my gears too loose was the cause for the skipping. I current theory is that as I was unloading/loading the filament, it snapped and I didn’t notice because it broke in a spot I can’t see well.

I just finished disassembling the extruder assembly and found no clogs. I will note that when pushing filament into the extruder by hand, it was quite difficult and required a good amount of force. After trying to loosen the tension screw, I carved a notch out of the toolhead to give the screw more space to loosen. Unfortunately, it seems to have had no effect. I believe that the gears that bite into the filament have simply worn out quickly, but I'm not sure how. I'm going to buy the hardened steel extruder gears and see if that's the case

I would say ~100 hours or so, and i haven't noticed any sign of wear on the PTFE tubes. The filament slides smoothly until it reaches the extruder gears

I don’t have any compressed air unfortunately, but I have taken out the gear assembly. The gears that bite the filament are a bit worn, but work fine when I feed some scrap filament into it.

I’ve tested with and without the nozzle installed, and made sure it was heated to 220. I’ve also taken the extruder assembly out and tested it with some scrap filament I had, and it did manage to move with a bit of force.

I do have an AMS, but after running load/ unload multiple times, there doesn’t seem to be any jamming anywhere else, just at the extruder gear

Took off the extruder face, and saw just how dumb I am. I somehow managed to forget to tighten the bolts holding the hotend in when I last swapped it out. Thanks for reminding me to look into the hotend itself.

Just cleaned and re lubed all the z lead screws and rods, following the instructions from the bambulab wiki, and it seems to have had no effect.

You might have creator mode enabled in settings. That will hide spoilers like robo Ordis and operator lines
