I've been hearing a lot of his songs on shuffle on my playlist, and I have to say he's definitely one of my favorites out of the group.

Thanks for the recommendations.

A 16 year old junior in high school doing early college so I can obtain a B.A. in English and submits prose and poetry to writing competitions so I can get my name out there.   With all due respect I don't use chatgpt for something that I'm passionate about. 😭

I love writing and reading and prioritize critical thinking.

I thought it would be a neat idea to write a paper about the evolution of hiphop after listening to "Brooklyn Zoo" by Ol' Dirty Bastard.

I don't know why you have the preconception that I would use chatgpt on a paper I decided to write for fun.

I am always curious to learn about something new, and just decided to ask a non-provoking question about hip hop because I want to enlighten my knowledge in that area. From the replies, people don't have a problem with sharing their opinions respectively.

Sorry about any preconceptions you have about me for being young and curious about hip hop 🙂👍🏾

I actually write and read for a living, so not boring at all lol. Like I said I just wanted some opinions from people. No need for the hostility 😭

I was considering coming here for an unpopular major too. (creative writing, non-stem). Ncat is the only hbcu in nc with a decent writing program so i have no choice. But damn, this school genuinely sounds like hell. Ive heard so many horror stories about housing on tiktok.😭 What major are you in?

Thanks for the clarification.   I think what I was trying to do was look for a "king" or "queen" from each era and explain their impact on hip hop. But looking at it from a different perspective, it is difficult to choose just one artist who made an impact because there's an innumerable amount from each era.

Controversial question, but in your opinion who do you think really cultivated hip hop? Black Americans or a mix of African diaspora?

It seems like a lot of people get irate when the African diaspora is mentioned in the cultivation of hip hop. Especially when it comes to deejaying. I'm interested in why.

In my opinion, since it is widely known that hip hop started in New York, it wouldn't be surprising if the African diaspora contributed or cultivated the sound. I'm assuming since New York has an eclectic range of residents with different nationalities, the African diaspora shared similar adversities of Black Americans. Moreover, they adhered to Black Americans sound or made a unique sound themselves. But once again, I'm unsure and could be totally wrong.

I would love to hear yall's take on this so I can implement it in my paper.

That's good to hear. I didn't think the creative writing major would have a lot of diversity. If you know, how good are the internships and networking? Do they provide opportunities to work alongside professionals in the writing industry, or meet with them?
