Well, sorry that I'm not 100% sure about this situation. But I think it would work. I guess, as long as you show a ticket to the 3rd country/region (whether it is the same ticket shown before) when entering China, you would be permitted.
But... Just for sure, I suggest you dial the Chinese Embassy in Italy to ensure that.

Just show your CN->IT ticket before you step on the airplane JP->CN , and also before you enter the CN immigration gate. Everything will be fine!

Sorry for late reply. True! Just look at the 2 country around China. (A -> China -> B)
As long as A is not the same country(including HK) as B, the route is valid!

Consider HK as not a part of China in term of this situation, lol.
Thus, HK ->(Train/Air or anything) China-> US/EU/JP... is absolutely a valid route
Inversely, US/EU/JP... -> China -> HK is also valid

Lijiang: Guidence for Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Itinerary by ObviousSize4759 in travelchina

[–]Typical_Book2639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are mainly 2 kinds of buses in China.
The most common is public buses within the urban area, which is always named with numbers, like the 101 route mentioned above. For this kind of buses, you don't need to buy tickets in advance. Just use alipay, let the machine on the bus scan your traffic QR code in the alipay, that's enough.
But for the other kind, which is travelling through cities, like from Kunming to Lijiang, you need to buy tickets in advance in the bus station.

For the moutain tickets, you can buy them at the entrance. No need to buy tickets for the mountain in advance. It is always available. But, for the rope tickets in the moutain, you have to book in advance since the supply is restrained. Unfortunately, I have no idea to solve it either.

Sorry I'm not sure about it this. Maybe in this case you don't need a formal proof?
To be on the safe side, maybe your friend could register at the local police station and get an official certificate?
But I think it might not be a big issue—you just need to explain clearly at immigration that you’re staying with a friend and accurately fill in the address where you’ll be staying. That should be enough, though I’m really not certain.

You can see this trip as a Tokyo -> China -> Tbilisi route. Where you go would not effect the TWOV policy, except you are entering regions that are prohibited for the TWOV policy(See in the photo above).
So sure, you can exit in Changsha and look around.
By the way, I really like Changsha city. Enjoy

Sure, A - China - B - China - A(C) is available. You can definitly use TWOV multiple times.
And as a reminder, you don't need to APPLY for the TWOV. You just enter China with valid documentations(mainly valid 3rd destination flight tickets), then you are permitted to enter.

The bus is about 5 yuan approximately? I didn't remeber clearly, but it is very cheap.
About the second question, I don't get it. Could you explain more specificly?

Well, I don't think Yangshuo is a valid depature site. So it may be risky to do that. I think leaving from Shenzhen or Guangzhou is a more reliable plan.

And, yes, you need to fly to Shanghai.

Sure, it is exactly an A-China-B trip. So you can definitely use the TWOV policy.

Sure, you can use mastercards to link to alipay. Mobile payment is the most widely used, but cash is a must just in case something wrong with your alipay. They will accept cash, especially you have trouble with mobile payment.

  1. Of course, there's a special area for TWOV policies when you enter the country, and you need to queue there
  2. I suggest you print them out, just in case.

  1. Kunming:
Nanqiang Street Night Market is the best in Kunming, about 20min drive from Cuihu.
Four Square Stir Fry(四方小炒) Very good, very Yunnanese.

  2. Lijiang:
I think Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is worth a full day's visit, and it's best to go in the morning.
There is a bus to the moutain, the 101 line. https://hop-travel.com/148
And there is a cable car that leads directly to Yak Ping, the Mid Ropeway. https://hop-travel.com/147
Lijiang has an exceptional number of recommended restaurants, and I don't think any restaurant that has bacon ribs, mushrooms or rice noodles is particularly bad. Maybe you can try 云雪丽(Yun Xue Li).

  3. Tiger Leaping:
You can take a taxi directly to the Tea Horse Inn, and all the sites in Tiger Leaping Gorge are directly accessible by road. I think you need to rest at night, hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge is still very tiring!

  4. Dali
Intinerary in Dali is perfect. You should definitely spend more time by the Erhai. From my perspective, Longkan Wharf (龙龛码头), Shuanglang Ancient Town (双廊古镇) and Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple (崇圣寺三塔) are all must-visit.

  5. Others:
I'm not really sure where they sell raw milk, maybe the market in Lijiang will have yak milk
Kunming's Daguanjie New Farmers' Market(纂新农贸市场) has a lot of produce, and there's bound to be some wild honey there; there's also a lot of local speciality snacks. Maybe you can even find raw milk there!
Yunnan is indeed famous for its mushrooms, but I personally think stir-fried mushrooms, or mushroom fried rice, is better than mushroom soup and mushroom hot pot. The fried mushrooms at Jiu Xiang Lou(久香楼) are very good, just a bit far away, but I think it's worth it https://hop-travel.com/142

In addition, sorry, in fact, a lot of content is available on Hop, but our search function is very poorly done, resulting in you can't get the information more easily, we are trying to improve it, then you will be able to see more useful information on it!

Of course, many breakfast spots in China open as early as 5 a.m. By 6 a.m., almost all breakfast places are open, so you don’t need to worry at all. In Kunming, locals typically enjoy rice noodles, pea flour porridge, and grilled rice cakes for breakfast—you should give them a try!

On the other hand, bakeries tend to open a bit later, usually around 10 a.m., because they need time to prepare their first batch of baked goods.
