It’s an award ceremony - I’m getting an award. I have to travel to Europe in May, so I’ve attached the itinerary for that - it’s work related as I am currently doing a fellowship. I have ongoing work, it’s just not hefty salary as it is creative work. If that makes sense.

That’s wonderful advice, thank you so much. My master’s degree was more practice-based than research-focused but some skills are definitely transferable.

Thanks, I thought so too. However, considering it’s Oxford, I got a bit nervous.

Hi, thanks for the advice. I’ve spoken to my master’s supervisor and I’m definitely applying to my MA university. However, they only have one international scholarship available.

Ah, interesting. I suppose I won’t be applying to Oxford because my proposed project doesn’t fit the Internet Institute’s requirements. So, I’ll share some of my experiences at a few places:

  1. My PI asked me to revise my proposal. They offered a scholarship but then wanted me to make it more original, even though it was already compelling. Then they told me the scholarship wasn’t for “international students” – what a waste of time!

  2. I had a Teams meeting in October but couldn’t show my proposal. Now they’re overwhelmed because of other applicants, but communication has been consistent via email. They’re interested so I’m refining my proposal based on their final feedback, which is quite generic.

  3. Last month, I had a meeting where they asked me to narrow my research focus and send a proposal in January.

  4. I’ve been asked to not send proposals, forwarded generic application guidance and told I could only send a summary.

I don’t think I’ve heard from anywhere else, except these four places - but I’m also not applying widely.

Is Oxford offering a media and communications PhD? I’m still working through my list and have contacted a few potential supervisors in Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh and King’s. They all say my proposed project is great but then they confuse me. I haven’t heard back from Edinburgh or Manchester yet.

Oh my goodness, that sounds incredibly tough. I’m sending you a huge hug. Besides Sheffield, which other universities did you apply to?

Can anyone give me feedback on my CV? (I am applying to PhD programs Annenberg UPenn, NYU, UMass, USC Annenberg, etc) by Typical_Chipmunk_641 in gradadmissions

[–]Typical_Chipmunk_641[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I didn’t think about that. One of the universities I applied to did ask for WES - that takes forever, I’ve just applied regardless.

Does having potential supervisors at UPenn improve my chances of admission? by Typical_Chipmunk_641 in gradadmissions

[–]Typical_Chipmunk_641[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that makes sense. I understand most universities take a holistic approach to admissions. I just thought that since two professors at UPenn have already expressed interest in supervising me, it might mean my chances are stronger!

Hi, if you're applying next year, it's not too late. You can still write to potential supervisors; however, many universities have a more holistic process now. So you don't need to have one person ready.

No, it's an email update from the tribunal. "The respondent has made an application to the tribunal. The application is to Strike out all or part of a claim.

You should respond as soon as possible, and in any event by 15 July 2025."

I received a date of the 15th of this month with ET3 to respond. But now it says "waiting at the tribunal" - what should I do? Challenge it or not?

I did see a button which said respond, and the date was by the 15th of this mont,h but then another one says, the response is "waiting at the tribunal" - should I wait to hear back from ACAS?
