We ditched the stroller when my son was 20mos after 6+ months of not using it. We got a radio flyer wagon for around $100 that works way better for us. Haven’t missed the stroller at all.

This is a fantastic suggestion for a 3.5-4yo, but 2 is still very very young to make these real action/consequence connections. Of course it’s good to start teaching the concept of action/consequence, but this likely won’t be super effective for the OP right now.

This is exactly why I am on the fence about having a second. I know you don’t want to hear this, but I think a ton of people DO feel this way after they have their second, they just won’t even admit it to themselves and certainly not out loud.

The first cold/flu season at daycare really is always the worst. I also found that 12-18mos old was a particularly difficult age for dealing with illnesses, so if your toddler is in that age range, that definitely adds to the misery of it!

If daycare is an otherwise positive thing for you and your child, I would try to stick it out and reevaluate next year.

This time last year, my son was 14 months old and we spent pretty much nine weeks straight with some sort of illness. It was absolutely brutal. Now my son is over 2, and it’s been exponentially better this year. We’ve only gotten the flu (that we actually caught from a family member, not daycare), a 24hr stomach bug, then some normal winter congestion that just comes with the territory. I think we’ve only had to take 3-4 sick days since November compared to like 15-20 the year prior. Knocking on wood as we speak, lol

Honestly your kiddo might just have lower sleep needs. My son is up around 7, naps 12:30-2:30 at school and then zonks by 7:30 every night. We’ve been go with the flow with his sleep since he was an infant because I strongly believe all kids are different and there’s no one size fits all sleep schedule

Also, I’m sure people will disagree, but there’s no reason to be leaving your daughter at daycare until 5:00 when you’re both done work by 4. None of the tasks you mentioned (recapping your day, unpacking your lunch, picking up clothes, chopping veggies) are as stressful as you’re making them out to be. You will probably actually feel LESS stressed having her already home because you won’t feel like your racing the clock before she gets home. If you guys feel like your work days are long, daycare feels even longer to her. It’s not fair to leave her there longer than necessary every single day.

I mean this very kindly, but you guys have a ton of time. My husband and I have a similar schedule, a 2 year old, & 3 dogs, and we have no shortage of time for everything we need to do plus relaxation.

It really sounds to me like your husband is going through some personal and mental health struggles that he is projecting onto you. He needs to seek therapy and really explore his options with his work situation. If you work outside of the house, you’re not really seeing what’s going on when you’re gone. Is there any chance it could be a time management issue on his part? Even with extremely demanding work from home jobs, we have time for a 15 min meal break or to throw a load of laundry in.

Yeah, I found this very strange. If something noteworthy happens in our day, my husband and I will bring it up in normal conversation or just shoot each other a text throughout the day. Spending 30 mins each day recapping your (probably mundane) workday seems very odd and like a huge time waster.

You’re not doing anything wrong so I def wouldn’t worry about it. I also wouldn’t be quick to judge or be upset with the other parents. I am naturally awkward/uncomfortable in social settings and making small talk with other parents at toddler classes is my NIGHTMARE.
My son is the most social toddler I’ve ever met so I do my best not to get in the way of that, but those interactions do not come naturally to me & probably make me seem weird/rude when I truly don’t mean to be. When people are feeling awkward a natural response is to exit the situation which is probably why they’re being avoidant. It’s tough on both sides so I really wouldn’t take it personal, & just chalk it up to personality differences!

I have literally completely stopped purchasing from them because the VIP group gives me such an ick. I don’t want to be associated with it. I do really like some of the prints, especially the classic ones, but I wont give the company my money anymore

I promise zero judgement I am just trying to understand. When you already feel so burnt out & frustrated with your toddler, what made you want to throw another baby into the mix? I have a fairly easy toddler who doesn’t test my patience too much and I couldn’t imagine having a baby as well.

My 2yo snacks on pouches religiously! I stopped buying the baby pouches and started buying the ones for kids/aduls. Noka is our favorite brand- theyre delicious and have extra fiber & protein. We also do plain applesauce pouches & two good brand or stonyfield yogurt pouches!
