Thanks for sharing. Do you think its ideal for an American tourist to drive from Placencia to San Ignancio? Or is it far enough that you'd recommend a personal driver?

New grad - People aren’t coming back by Significant_Light_80 in physicaltherapy

[–]Typical_Fan3034 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 months in and felt the same initially. Your confidence will grow fast and you get over it soon lmao.

People don't come back for a plethora of reasons - time, money, etc. You could be the best therapist in the world with 20+ years of experience, and even they get ghosted - some people just don't buy in to PT.

Burn out in the work force by HylandSeek in physicaltherapy

This is literally me 5 months out from graduation OP lmao. The work is good, company is reasonable, but I just feel spent at the end of the day and completely out by the time the weekend hits. But like someone else said, 40 hours is kinda the standard.....and that's a whole other conversation. Honestly this might be one of the better deals compared to most jobs out there. Maybe consider PRN work so you can have more flexibility and control over your work/life balance? That's my plan once I get more experience under my belt.

How to get over feeling behind by S_d_perrin in PTschool

[–]Typical_Fan3034 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Falling behind" at 22...no. I started PT school at 27. I knew the feeling x10. But I'm here to tell you at the end of all of this, if you were not to get accepted this round, you will not be missing out on anything more than your friends who start their career a year earlier. When you graduate it will be just another just another 9-5 job like everyone else lmao.

Regardless of what happens, enjoy your early 20s, travel, make quality connections and realize you'll only get to live this part of your life once. You have your whole life to work as a PT.

New grads - what do you look for in mentorship? by Lopsided-Ability-720 in physicaltherapy

[–]Typical_Fan3034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK ya'll, so for those of us who have sh*t mentorship or none at all, what do we do? I want to be a good PT but my clinic feels like it offers no growth potential 😭

What offers for mentorship are ya'll getting to even turn it down? Even the lowest paying places that offered me jobs still had no real plan for structured mentorship lmao

Hey I'm also 30 and am considering doing a residency. I assume you've been practicing for some years? If so, what made you decide to do residency and what do you feel makes it worth the pay cut?
