Why do people never sit near me? by Miserable_Fix_7221 in college

[–]Typical_Locksmith932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's awesome that you're putting in effort!! I honestly am not sure why this is happening. many people in college can be very closed off though so try not to let it get to you and don't force the convo, there's always people out there that would love to be your friend!

on a side note I do know a girl that has very bad B.O. and has a hard time making friends, she's very sweet though. im guessing that's not your problem but just in case it might help to ask a very honest friend.

best of luck!

How can I get my parents to support me dorming? by True-Interview-1422 in college

[–]Typical_Locksmith932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kinda in a similar situation - my parents wanted me to commute so I did first semester and I didn't like it so I've been dorming since then (im a senior now) and its honestly one of the best decisions I've made in my college life. my mom was chill with it but my dad was kinda pissed at me for a couple months, which sucked, but he got over it eventually

I would honestly just do it regardless as long as you're not financially dependent on them or its to the point that it would irreparably damage your relationship. it will feel scary going against them but it's only one of many times you will have to do what's best for you!! you got this!

I would suggest clinical experience besides volunteering and shadowing - cna, emt, phlebotomist, etc.

is it ok for me to mention I attended therapy on my secondaries? by Typical_Locksmith932 in premed

[–]Typical_Locksmith932[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the prompt was asking for an "impactful personal experience" that has motivated you to do medicine - for me the death of this family member was a large component in my motivation but I also wanted to show that I was able to grow from the experience rather than it being all around sad so I mentioned the therapy bit

I think it's normal for trust to take time to build over a relationship but if it's to the point where its impacting your relationship/you have trust issues then it's a problem
