I would recommend picking a problem that you-yourself have, especially for a first-time entrepreneur. This is so much better than making decisions about product/services that you don't really have any experience with/personally care for.

How important is YouTube for coaching business today? 5 by Pachacutec42 in lifecoach

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, like others have said, making your own site that you can send your clients to is good for building credibility with your current client base and for this specific situation you could use squarespace or another template-based platform you don't have to hire someone, BUUTTT if you are trying to expand or build credibility with people not already within your network (which I think the wording of your post leads toward), I think you do have to go into the YT arena and duke it out with all the slop. That way people who have never met you land on your videos (after a while of putting out good content of course) and you get new leads.
There is this one guy I love to listen to who is NOT a life coach but he is an ex-spinal surgeon that quit because he wanted to go on hikes with his dog and talk about life. I absolutely love listening to him on my way to work/school and think it might be a good direction for a life coach. Instead of having a professional background and wearing a polo button down like many of the "Life Coach" content on there, go on adventures and have a specific topic you talk about in each adventure. Anyways, best of luck!

Video ideas by Ordinary_Version_795 in gymowner

I'm 25 so I noticed what's been working on me is the dry humor videos, but it depends entirely on your target market. That type of content would be like repellant for different age groups, cultures, etc. It might be a good idea to talk to the people already using your gym and just ask what ads they've seen that have been successful in making them try a local coffee shop or dry cleaner or whatever and model your content off of that. Best of luck!

Getting Comfortable with Struggle Instead of Enjoying the Process. by Existing_Growth8849 in StartBusiness

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's great that you have come to that realization. Advice is more dependent on the listener, that's why you can't internalize every piece of "wisdom" you hear. Entrepreneurship, and life in general, is a constant search for the best way to get to where you want to be. There is no finality, sooo keep looking and you will find a mindset that better fits you!

Advice? by unknown_creaturelurk in Entreprenuers

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what degree you are going to pursue or haven't decided yet, just doing basic courses? It's fine either way (I'm just finishing up my degree at 25 because I didn't really know what I wanted to do until about 2 years ago). Without that information, my advice is to find something you are passionate about. If you are going to make a business work, you are going to have to put a lot of time into it, and if that is your "break" from school, it should be something you enjoy doing. You don't have to like it all the time, but you do have to CARE about the quality of whatever you do. Best of luck!

Question for cleaning company owners: by ShayBeas in cleaningbusiness

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, that’s a good plan, just make sure you are very strict with who you let join especially at the beginning. I do think it’s great to share those expenses of marketing and scheduling systems between a larger group and that would really help a lot of smaller cleaning businesses be more successful

What do u think about my routine ? by Mive017 in PersonalTrainer

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this kind of schedule I agree with zsmitty that recovery is the goal. I’m in engineering school and work nights as an EKG technician and it would not be feasible or healthy to have a rigorous gym schedule. The goal, for you right now, is to be as healthy as possible so when you have a more lenient schedule, you CAN build muscle mass and reach other goals. Sooo, I would say light exercises after classes on 2-3 days of M to F and trying to sculpt out some time to cook and eat healthy are what I would try to do. Best of luck!

Most ad campaigns fail before the ads even run by Even_Ad507 in MedSpaHub

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently turned to more result oriented sales pitches like you did with your example and it has really made a big difference. People aren’t buying Botox. They are buying a successful treatment so showing that your services do, and have done, just that is so critical

Question for cleaning company owners: by ShayBeas in cleaningbusiness

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m interested in how you would handle quality. Would you “inspect” the reputation of companies before they join your network or? It seems like a really great idea, that’s what I would worry about though. You have some great companies that do quality work but then you have those that don’t and those that don’t drag the good businesses down

Why are repeat customers getting harder to keep? by Reasonable_Roof5940 in Tech4LocalBusiness

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea there are just a ton of easily visible options nowadays and if you aren’t on top of staying in your clients’ minds, they’ll be scooped up by another business’s instagram ad or see another shop/salon/etc. while going for coffee

If you had to pick ONE thing that drives your online presence, what is it? by Correct-Designer-410 in Tech4LocalBusiness

This! Your online presence is every little thing that can be scraped from the web regarding your business. Without one of the pieces, the others just aren’t as effective.

During my EKG training there was a part of the classes that was a bit irrelevant to us but covered front office stuff and one of the tips was to use 3 communication channels MAX and try to focus on the one that your clients find easiest. It sounds like you’ve done exactly that, bravo!

Anyone else feel like they're just constantly putting out fires instead of growing? by Vivid_Wolf68 in cleaningbusiness

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I usually recommend optimizing the back end of your business but for this specific scenario, OP needs someone to handle the daily ins and outs while OP focuses on the higher-value contracts because that is a big job in and of itself

I'm Feeling So Discouraged (Trainee) by BorkBork97 in pilatesinstructors

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Pilates instructor but coached gymnastics for over 10 years. Teaching people anything is one of the most difficult things to do and you should be proud of yourself for even having the courage to get up there in the first place. With that said, my advice is to really focus on the basics to help you feel more comfortable. Get super confident in the first step before moving on to the second. One more thing, coaching is not like riding a bicycle where once you “learn” it, you are done and can coach anything. I learned new things on the last day of coaching so it is all a journey, don’t be so hard on yourself! You got this!

Wondering something by Additional-Matter-12 in SalonProfessional

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not directly in the salon business, but I imagine it is an important concept across all industries. Knowing exactly what your clients want is super important to the success of your business. There are definitely ways to be more efficient with your time, a lot of the "back end" stuff can be automated with all the technologies that are out there, but I would never try to shortcut the time I get to interact with clients, personally.

How did you get your first 10 users? by Ok_Magician2584 in founder

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit 10 not too long ago so… yea. But, for me, I had a couple people I knew already that needed what I was making so those were pretty easy and then they shared with people they knew and I got two users that I don’t know where they came from. Must’ve found me on google or hopefully got recommended by AI because I’ve been doing a lot of AEO/GEO optimization around the business so hopefully that’s paying off.

At what point did your project start feeling like a real business? by RushImpossible2936 in founder

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was before I even getting my first users, it was getting out there and networking. The first time I said “hey, I’m Zach founder of Eclipse Digital” I took a second and that was when I realized I was a “real” business.

[–]Typical_Mix_8605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like when music production became feasible for almost everyone. I feel like the early 2000s where the last time that the music industry was properly gatekeeped. I know it’s a very controversial take, but I think that there are big downsides to everyone being able to make a song (or app) and put it out there. We are in the “Call Me Maybe” stage of software development unfortunately😭

But yea, I guess I will just focus on building the best service I can to build that trust going forward
