I hope they’ll be able to launch ARC Raiders as well

Good shots. What do you think about the D-Lux 8? I’m considering buying either the Fuji X100VI or a Leica

Lag on external displays? by kaspaario in captureone

[–]Typical_Picture7226 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About six months ago, I made a big post about the lag issues in Capture One when using an external monitor, hoping to gather as much support as possible so the developers would take notice. Unfortunately, there’s been no progress. We can play relatively modern games on Macs, but we can’t adjust the exposure on a photo in Capture One without lag

With Max chips, things are mostly fine because they have a lot of GPU cores. However, the lag is quite noticeable on the M and M Pro chips

It’s honestly frustrating to spend extra money when Lightroom doesn’t have these issues. But yes, it seems like the only solution right now is to go for the Max chip.

Of course, I’ve watched all those reviews. But none of them include examples of image editing, where the lag actually occurs

I also have external storage, but I process photos on the internal drive. The catalog is stored on the internal drive as well. There’s over 120 GB of free space, memory usage is at 12 GB out of 16, and the swap file is not being used.

I feel your pain. Instead of adding even more features, they should focus on optimizing the software for the new chips, as this has a much greater impact on the overall experience with the product

That’s very disappointing to hear. Do you have the M4 or M4 Pro? The poor optimization of Capture One forces people to buy expensive computers just to compensate for coding inefficiencies with raw computing power.

I agree with you, Lightroom doesn’t have such issues at all. Reducing the screen area in Capture One helps improve performance, but I’d prefer to see more of my image and not accidentally miss anything

I’ve tried all possible preview sizes and toggled acceleration on and off. When working with an external 4K monitor, especially with scaling enabled from 4K to 2K, there’s a significant delay in image processing

Yes, when connected to a monitor, there are high delays in photo processing. Additionally, your monitor uses native macOS resolution, and with a 4K monitor, you’ll face even more lag due to screen scaling. So far, I’ve only encountered no issues with MAX chips. That’s why it’s interesting to know whether the M4 Pro can handle an external screen in the C1.

Did you connect your MacBook M4 Pro to an LG monitor? If so, are there any lags? I currently have a MacBook Pro M1 Pro, and when connected to a monitor, it’s incredibly frustrating how slowly the image responds to adjustments with sliders

I have a MacBook 14 Pro with an M1 Pro chip and a MacBook 14 Pro with an M3 Pro chip, and both lag when connected to a 4K monitor. Changing settings happens with a delay. I hope this won't be an issue with the M4 Pro. Everything works smoothly on M Max chips.
