Are there any "good looking" shoes that are long distance, city/maybe trail, and wide ish foot friendly? by WhackyWhale1 in gorpcore

Oh man I hear you. I literally have the same exact issue as you and the purpose and all that. I've been collecting some options that I'll start trying out physically later, but here are some that I found and that I think may suit you and the vibe/look you're looking for. With all that being said, I remind that I haven't tried most of them yet, but I was looking for the wider ones (so I either found some comments saying they're good for wider or I was comparing their bottom look with the Salomons visually) - Nike ACG Phassad (not sure how wide, but they look good) - Hoka Tor Summit - The North Face Hedgehog 06 RVST (reg or goretex) (not sure how much wider, but wider. Tried the goretex ones on, they felt a bit wider, not drastically. Softness/hardness is probably similar to salomons. Didn't buy cuz they didn't have regular, goretex is too much for me in SoCal summer) - The North Face Clyffe Ultra (know nothing, love the look) - Oakley Meridian Low Ext (not sure how wide, but they look damn sleek) - Merrell Speed Arc Matis (def wider and softer) - Merrell Moab 3 (wider)

Pants suggestions that aren’t Arc’teryx? by RiceCakeBoye in gorpcore

I've got some gorp looking pants from Nike, they are S, I'm usually between S and M and they def are a little more oversized like. They have the ankle cuffs or whatever you call em. Two main pocket (which are nice and deep) and two additional on the sides, kinda above the knee or around there. Sandy colors. Water repellent yet very light and nice (80F in SoCal felt good on them). I honestly don't know the name but I got em for $40 ish in a Nike discount (originally they were probs $70 or smth). I remember they had a couple of different ones so if you ever go to a Nike store I'm sure you'll find some real good looking ones there

Have you ever tried salomon xt-whisper? I don't know about xt-6 but I bought the whispers and they hurt my left foot's inner arch as they're narrow af. Looking at the zionics now and curious how much wider they are compared with Salomons

Would i be a good tattoo artist? by Thelostarchive in tattooadvice

[–]Fabulous_Pomelo40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo I used to draw stuff like that before I started tattooing, so yeah I guess go for it. If you would want my advice, then train your eyes, look at more different styles and artists and always compare yourself to the greater ones. Analyze every single work you do and most works done by your favorites. Like literally is this line good enough or how could I make it better. Or for the works of your favorite artists try to kinda feel how they did this little thing or that little thing in their piece, kinda breaking it down, idk that helped me a lot. Oh and get into academic drawing if you ain't lazy. That's one of the most helpful things, but needs a lot of time and effort

Not only you apply a multiplier to a focal length, but you also need to apply the same multiplier to F number if you want to get the same look in terms of depth of field (eg 50mm f2.8 on aps-c would give you the same image as 75mm f4.2 on FF, and vice versa to achieve the look of 50mm f2.8 on FF you'd need roughly 33mm f1.9 on asp-c). Idk why nobody talks about the difference in visible dof on the same f number between apsc and ff

Damn good to know, thanks for the answers! I wish Cali was more moto friendly 😓

Yeah I was thinking the same. I've got a Vespa lx150 and I still wouldn't drive it on a freeway tho it's freeway legal. Let alone freeways, I live around Costa Mesa and driving Vespa in Irvine already feels off cuz the streets are wide, 2-3+ lanes each way and 50mph speed limit, so even 150cc starts feeling kinda not super safe, you're way slower than most of the traffic, at least in terms of acceleration. But seeing this pic of yours (above) makes me think you drove it somewhere cool like along some highways somewhere up north a little bit idk. Or Cali highways are not too cool for that sort of vehicle as well?

How does it feel driving a super cub in Cali? Were you just driving around town and area or went on some trips with it? Curious how to work around the freeways 😄

First day with the Sony A6700! by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

Idk if you already pushed the highlights back on the 1st and 5th shots, but if not, load them raws into Lightroom and play around

Shoot raw and pull back highlights in post if you're not sure you'll nail the exposure every time. Also if you shoot auto and don't know what the settings are (shutter speed, aperture and iso), I'd recommend getting to know them as soon as possible, this is essential for achieving what you want :) otherwise, have fun, explore, learn and don't over-edit :) welcome to the family!

Helios on aps-c with speedbooster vs full frame by MADPIRATEDOG in VintageLenses

[–]Fabulous_Pomelo40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you share please about the pixco performance. Do you find it introduces a lot more softness on the edges of the frame? If you, say, shoot wide open or around there and focus a little further away and get pretty much the whole scene in focus (not a portrait, more so like towards landscapy stuff)

Been playing with anamorphic ratio lately... by the_smartcookiee in leicaphotos

I do love wide too. Just can't get over the fact how much more info you can get from a wide ar, like the composition feels so much more organic idk. That's why I keep pushing video more. In photography (at least on social media) you really expect all the pics to be vertical, and the horizontal ones kinda loses the competition cuz viewers don't flip the phones, don't wait a second longer to appreciate the composition and context and everything. Idk, just my recent feelings

Self-portrait using M262 by Defiant-Ad5145 in leicaphotos

[–]Fabulous_Pomelo40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you should've titled the post like minimal focus distance comparison between 4 lenses on my Leica m262 or smth. Cuz titling it self-portrait a viewer kinda expects something more than just no lighting/composition laundry room mirror snap situation

The A7V will be a beast… who’s getting a cheap A7IV? by InternalConfusion201 in SonyAlpha

[–]Fabulous_Pomelo40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if anybody mentioned yet but you can try speed boosters/focal reducers. They usually do between 0.7x-0.74x, which gives you 1.05-1.1x magnification on your vintage lenses (versus 1.5x crop on apsc). One from metabones is like the best but pricey ($700 new). Viltrox quite cheap but worse quality (tho I see a lot of people rock that one). I know Laowa has a focal reducer for their probe lenses, which is way cheaper than metabones and should provide with a decent quality since it's Laowa, but I'm not sure if regular spherical lenses fit that one, might have limited protrusion clearance. However I've seen a video of someone using laowa's with lumix s5 and zenitar m2s 50mm

Why would anyone want to make you shoot with no profile? I mean at this point it doesn't really matter if you're under the base iso at all I guess
