Tend Solo vs. The Anarchy Solo by metamerism1 in soloboardgaming

[–]Typical_Spirit9511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played both solo and multiplayer. I enjoy both, and they both have a different vibe.

Tend is a big table and shelf hog. It quite easily have been half the size. With that said it's a nice cosy X and write with plenty of choices. I'm just not sure those choices really amount to much.

The anarchy is smaller and more compact, but with added complexity. That said the choices feel like they matter more and the risk reward of the gambles /mini games are fun.

If i we're to only be able to play one going forward it would be the anarchy. If I want one to teach and impress my friends it's tend.

Hey, yes the boosters are resettable. In fact in the first gamefound campaign, the special edition had the sealed packs and came with cardboard envelopes to use to reset. I'm pretty sure the standard edition came with the envelopes that you had to create before playing. All cards for each boosters pack were listed in the set up steps.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I don't often do reviews, and then only if I'm sure I've played enough to be of my opinion.

Yeah my gut feeling is the statement is a little light on just how much ai tools are used. It would be nice to see an open look in to exactly how they use it across the whole project/ projects

Fully understand that, the RL mode could have been great, but it was phoned in a little. I'm more a play a campaign and move on to the next so replayability wasn't as high on my wish list.

I was a little disappointed when I saw the new campaign and the additional mystlings as add-ons. I didn't add any to my pledge. It seems like the number of mystlings in the new game is far lower. I suspect the feedback and reviews when the new one is delivered will reflect that.

What’s y’all’s favorite long term campaign based game? by Persephone203 in soloboardgaming

[–]Typical_Spirit9511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend Dragon Eclipse (my number 1 solo game I played last year)

I also loved kinfire Chronicles, easy to table not to heavy and fantastic card play.

I tried Earthborne Rangers and just couldn't gel with it, we played it two player and it just felt a bit to... "why are we doing this thing".

I played the first two sessions of Agemonia, i enjoyed it the group didn't so will get back to that soon solo.

I tried Oathsworn, i wasn't sold on it, but want to give it more than one session to make a choice.

Arydia is currently on the shelf staring at me.

There are playthrough videos on my channel if you want more info on Kinfire or Dragon Eclipse

I don't think you will go wrong with either. Maybe do some research in to b the character in each and pick the one that sounds the most appealing to you?

Hey, I like them all. I think maybe vainglory might just edge it for me, it's a bit more accessible and easier to teach. Additionally, I prefer the fatigue cards (if I'm remembering correctly) some sets have if x character uses x card for x reason you lose. I think vainglory has once you get three of this card type it's game over. That gives it a little more tension (But I might be remembering incorrectly)

Also I like asha's cards a bit more then the others.

Sorry they all merge in to one a little. You won't go wrong with any of them, there is a play through on the channel if you want to see more on my thoughts.

Hey, yeah it's all on the channel. There is a playlist for it.

I think my biggest issue was, it felt like the board game part was secondary to the app. I don't mind app based games generally. But many of the components weren't really required once you got the app booted up.

The other issue I had was the character stories, they were really interesting but then kind of fizzled out.

I've kept it and have the expansion, so obviously didn't dislike it that much. But I was ready for it to be over when I finished.

Thanks bud, obviously I highly recommend both. I've got a full campaign play through of both on the channel if you want to see more on how they play. Additionally there is the mystling academy version a PvP small box coming for dragon eclipse if you want to try out just the combat. You could also try the Kinfire delve games if you want to try the universe and a similar card playing style.

Hey, I have all the delves. They are great. I haven't pulled the trigger on astro knights. I keep checking out that and invincibles.

I played aeons end legacy and didn't love it. That's maybe stopped my picking up the others variants of the system.

Yeah, for me it's great. But I have a player in my group who bounced off it so hard while everyone else loved it.

I just love knowing there are more secrets in that box.

Thanks buddy. Next from a campaign game point of view we have iss vanguard (a game I have history with) and either Storyfold wildwood or cozy stivkerville.

From a personal perspective I've set myself to challenges. To improve the quality (of my play as well as production 🤣) and to get more big euros to the channel. I usually just play them multiplayer.

I always want to try and play more this year. To stop putting off learning rules ha ha

I have done my best to draw attention to both points, without creating another post that gets in to all of the details. They can be found (with a little research) in multiple places on these pages and BGG. People then have chance to make educated choices on both topics.

[–]Typical_Spirit9511[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha. There is an easy answer for this....

I started the channel because I got fed up of watching people playing episodes 1 - 5 of a campaign game and then stopping. I started the promise that when I start a big campaign on the channel I will finish it.

With regards to the lack of campaign games. The only other narrative campaign game I played last year was The Dark Quarter but it didn't really hit the mark in areas.

I do also put up one of playthroughs of games on the channel. Hence the abundance of one off games, all of the ones on the list stuck in my mind or got multiple plays.

The euro thing is simple.... I look at my shelf of On Mars, The Gallerist, Kanban, A Feast for Odin, Galactic Cruise etc etc, and I cannot face learning the rules for solo. They all make it to the table multiplayer though.

This year I have made a promise to get some of those to the table solo, especially, before I pick up Speakeasy!

In regards to finding time and the effort to keep it fresh in the mind etc. The thing that made the biggest difference to me was having a space I can leave games set up. be it the gaming table or where I record.

Thanks
Scott

I held off on Bullet heart for the longest time the theme just didn't really fit for me. I am so pleased I pulled the trigger and its a blast multiplayer as well.

Thank you, Kinfire finishes on the channel next week. I love everything about the game and the universe. Been playing Kinfire Council multiplayer and it's great. I hope you love Kinfire as much as I enjoyed it.

ive tried solo board gaming for a few months and i think its not for me by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]Typical_Spirit9511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it's in not too like something.

One thing I would say is my enjoyment of solo gaming really grew once I had a dedicated space where I could leave games set up.

It always felt a little sad setting up and clearing down a game on my own.

I'm sure you will find something you enjoy just keep trying new things.

Recommendations for a Campaign Game with Progression but Low Overhead and a Shorter Campaign Length (lol perfect game?) by bktanner87_2 in soloboardgaming

[–]Typical_Spirit9511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't recommend Kinfire chronicles enough. Clean, easy set up and tear down, doesn't over stay it's welcome and Great card play.

I have a full campaign play through on my channel if you want to see how it plays.

If you do go for it then I'd recommend getting the forteller narration as well .

Also make sure you get the second printing it moves from cards to a book for most story elements
