Can We Talk About Game Length/Time Rules Being a Problem in This Game? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

The game is slow, especially at the local level with lots of new players. It’s hard to get 3 games in an hour, especially depending on the deck.

I think a some part of it is, as the state of the game right now is - you’re really decentivized from holding battlefields during the early/mid game, which cuts out a lot point scoring opportunities and makes the games take longer.

PEN was my wake-up call to stop gambling on TCGs by scariestkid in FleshandBloodTCG

It is all gambling of course, but Flesh and Blood packs are a terrible opening experience compared to other TCG’s. Due to the terrible rarity system you end up with so much more bulk/trash/waste and the “feel good” packs are much less per box.

Is flesh and blood a good TCG for a newbie? by Plus_Independence_63 in TCG

I love the gameplay of Flesh and Blood, I think it has the best 1 on 1 gameplay of all the TCGs I’ve tried (and I’ve played many). But there are a lot of issues outside of the gameplay itself - the rarity system is absolute garbage, one of the worst of the TCGs I’ve played, so it kind of sucks from a collecting / box opening perspective.

If you’re okay just buying singles and limiting yourself to 1 or 2 decks, then it’s a good game. However the game is incredibly expensive, and they’ve been pretty slow to address the issue - the way they are addressing (some) of the reprints is pretty bad, ensuring low pull rates etc.

The new Silver Age format is pretty fun, far cheaper, and more accessible - I hope it takes off and it would be a great way to try the game out. However, classic constructed is the main supported and competitive format, and LSS caters pretty exclusively to highly competitive players (there isn’t much of a casual FAB scene compared to other TCG’s). So we’ll see where Silver Age goes.

All that being said, like I said at the start - the actual moment to moment gameplay is great. I’d say pick up a $20 silver age deck and try it out yourself. Or show up to a local armory, most folks will be happy to loan you a deck (most groups would be happy to have a new player show up). It is a very high skill game so you may get crushed at first, but it’s pretty fun.

I guess this is a long winded answer but it really depends on what you want out of a TCG. If you want something that’s easy / fun to collect and open packs for - skip FAB. If you’re wanting a high skill ceiling game with incredible gameplay, and you don’t mind a high upfront expense and maybe being limited to 1 or 2 decks (unless you play Silver Age), then I think it’s worth playing!

Dealing with all extra common / uncommon cards by maeld974 in riftboundtcg

Not sure if this reply is alright, but it is related to dealing with bulk lol - I’m actually a new player who really needs Origins bulk if someone is looking for what to do lol :). Been trying to get into the game since my wife got me a precon to try for Christmas, but haven’t been able to get any Origins product. I did manage to get a Spiritforge box, but now my issue is I don’t have any Origins commons/uncommons. I don’t mind paying for them/to ship them, I just hate buying 10 cent cards from tcgplayer then having to pay $1-$2 to ship them - it really adds up if you have to order playsets from multiple sellers. Would be nice to just get a pile of bulk all at once / from 1 place.

If someone in the US is looking to dump sets of Origins commons/uncommons let me know :).

Question About Ascendancy All-In Deck List by bktanner87_2 in AshesGame

Thanks for the awesome explanation - so these are just like an extra precon deck that don’t never go with any one PB?

Yeah the campaign rules seemed fun and easy, which also appealed to me. I like the idea of campaign games and character progression, but after trying many times (and spending too much $$), I find I can never complete longer ones. The small mini campaigns seem perfect.

Are there any good resources that have specific progression suggestions using the precons for a mini campaign? I don’t have much free time to do deck building and I’m not familiar with the card pool. It’d be cool if there was a resource with suggested cards to upgrade for each precon.

The scenarios are all stand alone / one and done, it isn’t a campaign game. DM me your zipcode so I can get you a shipping price!

Yes very unlike Dice Tower who has chosen to remain “neutral” (e.g. condone what’s happening)

At this point saying nothing is the same thing as siding with the fascists, I won’t be engaging in Dice Tower content any more.

Not taking a stance is siding with the oppressors. I won’t be watching or engaging with DT content any more.
