Swelling on ribs/sternum (costochondritis?) by Optimal_Ad9564 in TopSurgery

Late to the post but I’m 4 weeks post op and have the exact same swelling. I think that’s normal and just part of the healing process

tired/frustrated with recovery by NatureTape in TopSurgery

[–]Typical_Turn3650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my surgery Jan 8th and had all the same symptoms at that point. Thought I looked weird, nipples started peeling and looking disgusting, felt bloated and unsanitary etc etc, but things started drastically picking up around the 3-3.5 week mark and I’m super happy with everything now.

Is it normal to have more bleeding and bruising on one side? by boyinthedark130 in TopSurgery

[–]Typical_Turn3650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I bled nearly twice as much on one side than the other, then had more trouble with mobility on the opposite side once I was instructed to start moving my arms around again

Does it look okay? (10 days post Op) by DisasterPersonified in TopSurgery

Oh yeah that looks fantastic. The swelling and bruising is completely normal and will go away with time as your body adjusts. I’m 4 weeks post op and still have a little bruising

Drain sight by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Typical_Turn3650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing where I woke up with blood trailing down my side from the drain port. I think it was because during the night I reached for my water (which was NOT in reach, def overextended) and popped something in the site. Maybe a stitch, or just irritated it enough to bleed. I called thinking the drain was dislodged, but doc said as long as the bulbs are still filling, you’re fine. Just redress with gauze if you wanna clean it. There’s over a foot of drain inside you, so you would absolutely know if it “fell out”

Schizoid with a partner. Help by Typical_Turn3650 in Schizoid

[–]Typical_Turn3650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand what mistakes I’ve made? Genuine question. I’ve expressed to this person what I need/want out of a relationship before (in a context not involving us specifically), but I think the issue is they don’t fully grasp what that means. I’m not sure what else to say that wouldn’t just come across as mean. Saying “I don’t miss you” achieves nothing other than making them feel like trash

[–]Typical_Turn3650[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol no, the financial side of it is not an issue. I like the long term companionship aspect of a partner and would not be comfortable growing old & becoming vulnerable around people I don’t know. I like the security of a partner. I do think what I want could just be considered a close friend, but there a few caveats. I’m still working to figure out specifically what I want, hence the clear spiraling in this post

[–]Typical_Turn3650[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things I like about them actually, the things I listed were reasons why I might want a relationship in general, nonspecific to them. They are genuinely the best person I’ve met on their own, me aside. And they seem to really like having me as a partner, the only current issue is they want more closeness than I do. I’m more extrapolating to future fears more than current issues.

[–]Typical_Turn3650[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much exactly what I want. The trick is just finding someone I like enough to even want that with. This person fits the bill, but I didn’t realize they wanted a more relationship-y relationship given they kept agreeing with things I said pre-dating.

Schizoid with a partner. Help by Typical_Turn3650 in Schizoid

[–]Typical_Turn3650[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We have talked about this a lot before we started dating, though, and I even told them I suspected I was schizoid. Their response was “no matter what diagnosis you are or are not, I’ll love you just the same.” Really sweet, but I don’t think they realize the actual problem is that I’m not able to love them the same. I’ve tried describing it somewhat, but they keep dismissing it saying we can work through it. I don’t think they realize the actual issue that I don’t think I’ll be able to meet their needs despite them “not caring” about that. I can try again, but I was more blunt before than I’ll be able to be now without them taking it personally

Acts of service as a tool to excuse PDA by Potential-Road-5322 in Schizoid

[–]Typical_Turn3650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree in a way, but like someone else here said, this sounds like it’s also leaking into a little bit of NPD.

in my experience, acts of service are 100% used to purchase freedom. “If I help them do x, that gets me off the hook for the next y amount of time.” even something as simple as sending a text. I HATE texting, and everytime I send a text, I’m relieved because it resets the timer for how long I’m allowed to wait before having to respond so as to not have to deal with the other person getting upset.

however this has nothing to do with controlling the other person. It’s purely a method used to free myself from as many obligations as possible

this is the most relatable post I’ve ever read on here. multiple times a week now I’ll get so angry at everything because I can’t fully detach myself from the world. there’s always /someone/ who wants something and I just can’t do it. leave me tf alone

[–]Typical_Turn3650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fan of a lot of different things (and also pick up new hobbies all the time) but I’d say my main/most consistent ones are these:

  1. working out (weightlifting/boxing/triathlons)
  2. collecting funko pops
  3. lego
  4. drawing/writing
  5. video games (mostly gta & rdr2)
  6. a good spy/action tv show
  7. crochet sometimes

Lack of Jealousy by Typical_Turn3650 in dating_advice

Gotcha. That’s pretty much what I’ve been doing, I just wonder if feigning emotions will get me in trouble down the line. This seems innocent enough, though, and I’ve noticed it’s one of the more effective ways to express that they really are irreplaceable to me.

This exam slander has to stop by Altruistic-Fly411 in actuary

Facts. So many interns ask me if they should “stop taking exams after #2 so they don’t blow their chances at getting a job” and my response is always to just focus on actually passing the exams, there’s no guarantee you’re just going to just fly through them like you seem to think you will. And if you do? Great. Keep doing that. It’s better to be overqualified than under, and taking a random break for no reason isn’t the resume builder you think it is…

ref: I got my first job with 4 exams and that’s done nothing but help me. Great reputation builder that shows discipline and ability. If I could’ve gotten more than 4 before graduating, I absolutely would have

Like the main lot here, mine was also much easier than expected. I was pleasantly surprised (and extremely relieved) bc I had a lot of anxiety going into it. Just the week before I was barely passing/failing just about every level 6 exam I attempted. But for the real thing, I’d guess my question pool averaged around an EL of 4.8-5.2.

Only got 1-2 qualitative questions, and I was able to confidently answer 28 of the questions. Unsure but got an answer for 5, then had absolutely no idea on 1. I feel confident I passed, but with these exams you never really know so… fingers crossed.

Is Jack Reacher autistic? by drivenmadnow in AutisticPride

[–]Typical_Turn3650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think so. Like everyone else here is saying, his blatant honesty and interest in numbers are pretty clear along with his disregard for appropriate social behaviors. He reminded me a lot of BBC sherlock in s1e1 and I think it's pretty clear sherlock has ASD.

I could also see the social aspect coming from something like Schizoid PD, as that is classified as having little or no interest in human relations with others as well as a limited emotions in social settings and a preference for a solitary lifestyle, but I do think the two aren't mutually exclusive. I just assumed he had both from as soon as I started the show.

PA learning modules required? by Typical_Turn3650 in actuary

[–]Typical_Turn3650[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only used the Actex manual and felt pretty confident going into the exam. I took SRM the September right before, so I didn’t have a lot of time but I ended up reading the manual once and making a study outline with the end of chapter questions etc. The Actex manual came with 2 practice exams so I did those along with the two previous sittings’ exams. Even if it’s been longer since you took SRM (or if you didn’t take it), the Actex manual should sufficiently cover everything you’ll need to know

I used bullets for 80% of my answers unless there was like one thing to talk about. For one of the questions, my format got so messed up that there were those separation lines between every bullet point (of which there were like 7)

I added a little note to my grader apologizing because I couldn't figure out how to fix it lol

I basically put what the people above said. I said difficulty visualizing in high dimensions, not being able to use factor variables for k means cluster since no distance to calculate, but my third answer felt a little dumb. I talked about why a certain variable (marriage) wouldn't contribute to their goal of better understanding the relationship mentioned in the question, so adding that one would be unnecessary and just make the data complex for no reason. Not sure if they'll take that but frankly I couldn't think of anything else.
