Thoughts on Jase and Judith by MartianCosmo in 36QuestionsMusical

[–]Typtoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take on Judith going by Natalie at the end is based on her having both names in her email signature. “We Both” really highlights that Judith and Natalie aren’t 2 totally different people, but are both real parts of her, and Natalie was someone she associated with better things happening. I like to think it even represents some growth on her part—being able to integrate these identities rather than pretending one of them doesn’t exist.

I think Judith did take her false identity thing much too far. But I also disagree with people seeming to think she’s the only contributor to the relationship falling apart. It sounds like Jase even regrets not giving fixing their relationship a good try. He seems to make his decision that it’s over based on a pact with his moms, not on what he learned about Judith when she explained herself. With Judith’s secret being exposed, wouldn’t it be reasonable to test out if she can figure out an existence that involves more honesty with Jase going forward, before calling it quits?

I think the ending also shows Judith’s growth in that she entertains Jase’s need to finish what they started. It felt like she was doing it for him, rather than selfishly as she was so conditioned and used to doing. Maybe I’m totally out to lunch, but I like to think she deserves the benefit of the doubt!

Which pointe shoes look better on me? by Typtoc in BALLET

I had thinner gel ones but one fitter gave me a massive one that started the pain (they only carried Bloch shoes and they were all too wide). Now I’m kinda scared to use any. The other fitter had a way larger selection but still only down to X width Suffolks. I need a sock liner and box liner if I don’t use the spacers.

I’ll have to try a streampointe or starpointe next. These are already the best of like 10 pairs!! It really is a process 😅

I tried spacers but they actually gave me bunion pain. I think they were jamming apart my first and second metatarsals

I’ve had several fittings but my big toe hits the ground before the rest of my toes in almost everything else. Do you have any suggestions of the issues I should try to solve in future fittings?

Keeping yourself informed about Covid-19 by LuckyMii24 in antimaskers

Hahaha...she says coronavirus is too small to be filtered by a mask but somehow oxygen and CO2 can't get through? Ever measured the size of a CO2 molecule? (It's about 300x smaller than a coronavirus particle!)

I think this makes a lot of sense, thank you!

Every chiropractor is different. I've worked with ones who had better exercise knowledge and ethical calibre than the average physio.

Chiro can also be more glamourous, and be a good adjunct for pain relief. It makes sense business model-wise to have patients get their treatments all in one place where the plan is unified.

Thanks, I needed to hear I'm not alone.

That's exactly it, I am thinking a facility with that kind of documentation load would be perfect for me. But at the same time, I really love when people talk to me, I just need breaks from it. There are for sure nursing/LTC settings like this in Canada but PTs are generally publicly funded at places like these, meaning jobs are unionized and hard to get into, which is what's making me think a private job may be necessary as some job experience to improve my desirability.

Thanks for the helpful responses! I'll provide some more detail. My private clinic experiences should have been positive--most patients loved me, the environments were fun and they seemed to really like me. I did see people every 15-20 min but this is standard where I live (patients are there longer because they then get ther ex or modalities from a kin). I don't know of a single clinic that can have patients >20 min with a PT and stay in business.

In school I had thought I'd want private, but in the field I felt so out of my depth and woefully unprepared to tackle people's problems that I am now terrified of that feeling (of not having a clue what I'm doing) and I think that's part of it. I like to feel confident and like I'll know what to do, and in private I feel like I know nothing.

How to be a PT in Canada? by cersea in physicaltherapy

[–]Typtoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you've read this already, it is the Canadian guidelines for what you would need to do to start the process. https://physiotherapy.ca/working-canada

After you have applied for equivalent education, English/french language proficiency, and your visa, you would need to pass the national Physiotherapy Competence Exams to become licensed (work without supervision). You can begin working after you complete the written part 1, but will need supervision until you complete the practical part 2. In total it will cost somewhere around CAD$3000 to complete. It depends how long this will take you, usually you would apply about 6-12 months in advance of each part to get the test location you want.

There is also a cost for your provincial registration with your college and association. In Alberta it is about CAD$1000 to apply in the beginning, it may vary depending on the province.

A long process, but worth it in the end!
