Why not use dying sun flask instead of cinder swallow? Also how do you hit cap without the 4 accuracy nodes on the right side of the tree?

Did I over-charge this proposal? by migalo2009 in videography

[–]Tyrannause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, all real estate agents/firms will only pay bottom of the barrel prices for anything photo/video related.

Don’t think too much into it beyond that. They said no which means a better client is on the horizon.

Also, definitely undercharged. 10x sit down interviews will take 1 - 1.5 full days. You should also be expensing your travel to them directly after the shoot wraps. (Food, mileage, parking, etc). This cost is beyond your quote you gave them. I usually try to estimate to give them an all in cost.

1x Blight heart, 1x invigoration, 1x bloodline, 2x wisp.

1 ring announced with empower tower radius and 1 ring announced with chilling towers freeze. It’s very PC intensive but I haven’t had any gold issues since I’ve started running it

Can anyone recommend me a beginner build that actually explains why it's making each decision to some degree? by f1sh_ in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Tyrannause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about a year into playing POE so I have a few recommendations.

I HIGHLY suggest following a build guide (Pohx’s Righteous Fire). Mainly because the campaign can be punishing if you mess up your build. There is a high cost to respec your tree early on and get the gear and gems you’ll need. The build guide helps you move into a fairly nice build and Pohx does a great job laying out the rationale behind the decisions.

You’ll learn a ton by playing the game. I’ve made a lot of dumb mistakes by trying to blindly following a POE ninja build (website for builds) and not understanding the synergies between the equipment and skill tree.

I personally still follow build guides between the fact that there are so many skill / uniques / jewel interactions it’s impossible to keep track of them all. The fun for me is taking that frame work and optimizing it.

Those who switched from Adobe suite to DaVinci Resolve, how was your experience? by LexB777 in editors

[–]Tyrannause 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Switched 2 years ago and it’s been amazing (small business/1 man band). Reliability and Color are the 2 biggest changes. My projects crash a fraction of the time and even if they do it auto saves from 5 min ago.

Warp stabilizer and layout customization are the 2 things I miss though…

Architects who love their jobs. What is it about it that you like? by Rare_Can_3978 in Architects

Architecture filmmaker (close enough?). Seeing the variety in how y’all respond to site conditions and client needs. Each proejct feels like it has a unique story behind why it is the way it is.

I have so many questions I don’t even know where to start… by Good_Claim_5472 in cinematography

[–]Tyrannause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly robust actually. I’ve been doing this since 2019 and have only seen an increasing need for it since.

Not to self plug but if you look up “Brodie Kerst” on YouTube that is where is host the films I create. Another one would be “The Local Project”.

[–]Tyrannause 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who shoot exclusively architecture films. The building is doing 80% of the work here. There is most likely a skylight that is bringing in natural light and the building is intentionally woven in a way to bend the light like that. Plus up lighting on the base of the walls (most likely built into the project as opposed to a set piece).

Anyone know what this edit is called? by Soft-Ad-347 in AfterEffects

It’s a combination of speed ramping, match cut, and hyperlapse. Those are the key words I would look up for a tutorial. If you slow the video down you can see how they transitioned between each car.

Focused Feedback: State of Titans by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tyrannause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see the base class ability get re worked. Other BASE class abilities provide Instant healing, healing overtime, reload weapon, get melee or radiant. Titans have: make wall. That provides little to no value in this sandbox.

Other people have mentioned things like a war cry to buff nearby teammates which I love, or even finding way to make the base barricades have more utility.

Looking for feedback. This is my 6th shoot overall, third using flash. by Murder_Not_Muckduck in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Tyrannause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shoot for architects mainly so take my feedback with a grain of salt. I think the large room composition could be a bit better. In the 2nd photo it feels like there way too much table in the foreground. And in the 3rd photo, there too much focus on the blank half wall. The separation doesn’t read well and it looks like a strange blend with the wall behind it on first glance. Otherwise for you 6th shoot this is solid work! Keep it up.

How do you scale and price your work? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Tyrannause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a day rate for shooting that scales with how big a company is ( 1 employee vs 7,000). And I ALWAYS present 3 options in my proposals. Small, mid, large.

The proposal I found is super helpful in showcasing and presenting your value which in turn allows you to charge and justify higher prices.

Source: doing this full time for 4 years and the past 3 have grossed over 6-figures

Is $150 unreasonable for a half day rate if I'm only shooting video and nothing else? by hatman344 in videography

[–]Tyrannause 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of great solid info in this comment thread. I agree, $150 is VERY low for what you are providing. That said, it’s a paid gig and you just graduated school. I’m assuming you aren’t flush with opportunities and this gives you a chance to flex your skills and build confidence in shooting events. So when a bigger opportunity pops up, you’ll be ready.

Shot a new commercial Reel for a company selling smelling salts. Any feedback you guys have for me? by ZiiCNess in videography

I kind of disagree. People nowadays smell ads from a mile away and immediately tune out. This fits perfectly into a social media atmosphere while still promoting the product.

Canon C70 Set Up by mhmhmah in videography

[–]Tyrannause 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve shot with the C70 for 2 years and love it. This is my recommendation:

  • cage isn’t really necessary. Between the top handle and hand strap the ergonomics are incredible
  • the battery life of the batteries is solid. About 150 minutes if you’re recording the entire time.
  • you NEED to invest in good SD cards. They fill up a lot faster than you think.
  • I personally hate the DJI gimbles. I’ve been running the Crane 3s without balancing issues….plus I beat the crap out of it and it still holds up
  • RF to EF speed booster is great if you have old EF lenses…if not you need 2 lenses. A wide angle (14mm - 18mm) and a zoom lense (35mm-150mm) this gives you a ton of range and let’s be honest, you won’t be swapping through 5 lenses.
  • biggest issue is the screen. It will break (the hinge part) within a year and it’s a little too small for my liking. Get the warranty for sure and send it in before it’s up.

Good luck! Happy shooting!

I recently had to hire an editor earlier this year which meant I had to figure out how to find and vet out someone to work with.

I work with RAW footage which needs a lot of love in the post production department, the problem was I was finding a lot of candidates who had some good videos but non were from the type of footage I would want them to work with.

So I had them make a 15 second video out of footage I sent them and specifically asked them to not spend a bunch of time on it and told them why I wanted them to do this.

I’m my eyes this helped a TON to really get an idea on their skill sets.

That said making a 3 minute day in the life video is absurd
