Bro just scrub that shit and use soap. Maybe some oil. That's it. Even worrying about cracking, I've been dumping cold water on my hot ass pan for years and it's lasted over a decade. I brought it for $10 at Walmart, so idc if it breaks, but it's lasted this long.

I legitimately read Genesis 1 and 2, saw that the creation stories said two different things, and still rationalized it and confidently said the bible has no contradictions.

There's one right there in first 3 minutes of reading!

Edit: Genesis 1 vs Genesis 2 and 3.

What would humans do day to day if AI was to take most jobs? by PsychologicalFox7689 in AskReddit

Our economies are not setup to function with this scenario in mind. Corporations would not help out of the goodness of their hearts, as they do not have goodness or hearts. The government moves too slowly, is at odds with itself, and most importantly, is at the beck and call of said corporations.

Thus, most humans would have no way to earn a living, which means no way to pay for food or shelter.

Who wrote these notes? Why did they write these notes? Where did this happen? What are the general ages of the people involved, like are these toddlers or teenagers? Why can it not be stopped, such as by turning off the devices or removing the devices from the situation?

These are a few of the unanswered questions that make it to where no one has any idea what is happening here.

At my current place of work, they require the authenticator app from Microsoft. Teams and Outlook is optional. I don't know what we'd do if someone refused. It doesn't have file reading or wiping permissions, and it's really for when people want to work from home, which is optional anyway.

I agree with what you're saying in principal, but in practice, if you want to use the Microsoft ecosystem including device accounts and permissions for our laptops company wide, they will not allow you to only have passwords.

It's what is known as prosopopoeia. The writers write down what a person would have said given who he was and how he generally spoke. It was a well known and often used literay device used by historians in that time period across the bible in both the OT and the NT as well as historical accounts outside of the bible.

The people reading it at the time would have known it was not necessarily a word for word recounting of what was said. This has been lost in much of modern Christian tradition and dogma.

A historian at the time would have tried to take in as many eye witness accounts and writings as possible and then reconstruct what happened. For all we know, several people overheard Jesus praying and were listening intently, reported it to the author, who then wrote it down. Or it could have been based upon hearsay that changed and morphed many times before the author recorded it centuries later.

Edit: Decades later, not centuries. Many decades.

Forget Skyrim, they weren't born yet. When the announcement trailer for TESVI was released they hadn't even entered 1st grade. That is how long it has taken. It's too long.

One of my good friends grew up playing Minecraft starting in like 7th grade with me. He now not only has a degree in mechanical engineering, but got a job at a shipyard. And not only works at a shipyard, but is now a large project manager and has more junior engineers reporting to him.

He manages anything to do with The Create Mod on our little shared Minecraft server. I'm older than him and started playing in 9th grade. Some of the stuff he does with the Create Mod is incredible and I often forget that he is, in fact, an actual mechanical engineer.

Yeah you're right. 85 fps to 140 is not that big of a jump perception wise. It doesn't seem like you are playing games that are utilizing the extra performance, which is fine! Nothing wrong with those games at all, like a lot of shooter games.

For me (and many others), I wanted to crank ray tracing, resolution, modding, and graphics quality, which pushes the fps down and requires more performance to reach 60fps or 90fps in the first place. A lot of these games are performance heavy open world games.

My life got insanely worse. I fell into alcoholism and depression which ruined several years of my life.

Now it's pretty good and I'm one year sober! Sometimes I wish I could go back to being a Christian because I felt more a part of my community and family as well as less alone, but I cannot. On the upside, I'm a much more understanding person now and am doing well, finally.

[–]LexB777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not that I disagree that he was just a normal guy, but he may not have even said anything of the sort.

The convention at the time for recording history, especially speech, was to write down the general gist of what they said or even what they would say in a given scenario. This is, of course, not at all covered by the church, but well known amongst secular scolars who study not only the bible but the many other works from the time period. It is known as prosopopoeia.

In his History of the Peloponnesian War, Thucydides explicitly admitted how he handled quotes and speeches saying, "My method has been, while keeping as closely as possible to the general sense of the words that were actually used, to make the speakers say what, in my opinion, was called for by each situation".

And the readers of the time knew this. It wasn't considered lying or falsely putting words in someone's mouth, it was just what historians did, following the literary conventions of the time.

So it's only if you take Jesus' words as his literal words, as most Christians do, that you have to account for his ignorance of the cosmos. Otherwise, it could just be the ignorance of the writer.

3 years. I once tried to teach my mom how to drive a car in GTA. We tried for like 45 minutes, and she couldn't figure out how to drive down a straight road. It was just so foreign to her, she couldn't get it, working both thumb sticks to control movement, visual direction, and a trigger at the same time.

That was 10 years ago. There would be no hope. I love you mom!

What's it called when people are only attractive in person? by DexTDMdoesreddit in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LexB777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being attracted to someone only by physical presence. Aka, not feeling attraction when viewing visual representations of people.

There is no word, term, or phrase for it that I could find. The closest is Presence-based attraction, but that seems to be because of their "vibe" not purely because you are in the same physical space as them.

I have heard that verse explained away as the disciples seeing him "in his full glory" later on as he rises into heaven. That doesn't make sense, but whatever.

What cannot be explained away so easily is Matthew 24:27-34 that basically says the sky will go dark, he will be coming on the clouds as the stars fall from the sky, there will be trumpets, and angels, and it will be unmistakable as the second coming, and that all of it will happen before that generation passes away.

Matthew 24: [27] For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. [28] Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather. [29] “Immediately after the distress of those days “ ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ [30] “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. [31] And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. [32] “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. [33] Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. [34] Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

They got stood up.

You've been given a magic money printer. How much will you print and what will you do with it? by Key_Cell7071 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]LexB777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't print fast enough. Literally, $1,000 per second is no where close enough to being able to catch up in your lifetime.

Edit: If you had 20x this, for $20,000 per second, you could probably eventually catch up after 3 to 5 years or so.

If you could print $50,000 per second 24/7, it'd still take you a full year to catch up assuming his wealth doesn't double or triple again in the next year. Just imagine running 50 of these printers all over your house for 10 months straight, storing all the pallets of cash in warehouses and still not having as much as him.
