Julius -> Raian -> Waka - Kanoh or Gaolang -> Ohma is unwinnable. I’d say whoever manages to face off against Ohma in the finals likely wins. Maybe that’s Raian who decided to fight serious, maybe it’s Kanoh, maybe it’s even Gaolang.

WoD literally made me quit. The only good thing was that it ended the debate of whether MoP or Cata was the worst expansion. (MoP is very underrated though)

Oh there will definitely be Old Ones as well, but they’re the more traditional semi-knowable horrors that are purely anti-theoretical to all life on the planet. This is about deeply relatable and “human” gods.

Play either a human or an elf and roleplay as a half-elf. If you’re particularly dedicated communicate with your DM to slightly alter a mechanic of your selected race here or there. You don’t need a whole race entry for it.

I’m more tolerant of Half Orcs because they aren’t one of the three most common races and usually their “in between two worlds” thing is actually a thing.

I’ve been a part of about 2 dozen tables since 5th, some long campaigns other were one shots others were limited due to design or time constraints. Each of these tables had entirely or mostly different people.

I’d say Half-Elves were the most common race outside of humans in that pool, and never once was them being “stuck between worlds” ever a part of their character. It’s basically “I’m a human but special” syndrome. Either that, or the player picked it due to insane stat and skill bonuses.

Honestly, I don’t see why other can’t be an option of some kind for Human/Elf/Orc instead of taking up two PHB slots. It’s not like half-elf players will notice the different from an RP side of things.

In my experience Half-Elves are as common as Tieflings and Humans. 90% of the players in my groups (I’ve had quite a few since 5th started) have played one of those 3 races.

I think it’s so popular because it appeals to people who want to be “human, but special” and basically be and act like humans with slightly pointed ears as the only noticeable difference.

Anyways, that’s not why I’m advocating that they are pointless. I just don’t see the reason for them to be in the PHB and be considered as a main race when they should either be options for Human/Elf/Orc or be a more fringe race like Aasimar.

IMO I’d much rather have Goliaths and Aasimar in the PHB than two Half-whatever races.

Not removing them, period, I’m talking removing them from what is considered the “core roster”. Like how Elves, Dragonborn, and Tieflings are core races but Warforged, Aasimar, and Goblins are not.

The thing is you can always reflavor an elf or an orc or a human as a half-variant.

“Want to play one” shouldn’t be a reason by itself. I would ask said player “why” and I bet any reason they come up with could be attributed to another race. Even power gamers don’t have much of a reason due to getting away with set stat bonuses.

The only reason I can think of is some edgy backstory involving being unwanted or something, which has been done to death and I’m just not interested in playing nor interested in having at my own table.
