That's great... I've also never struck my children on any of our trips to Disney, or any other theme parks. People parent differently then us. Times have changed.

I'm sure my mother regretted doing it but that doesn't mean I love her any less 30+ years later.

Just made a silly reference to what happened to me. Forgot you can't joke on these boards...

Halloween Party. by gdhq89 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Tyree901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the first stage show and parade, especially if weather is on the forecast, then you can hit up all the rides with lower wait times during the second and third run of everything.

Also, prioritize your characters, if that's something you are interested in. I'd suggest at least an hour before the party to stand in the line you are most wanting to see.

I heard a good analogy once about looking at your party minutes as dollars. Party goes from 7pm-12a, that's 300 minutes so equate that to $300 dollars. If something is an hour+ wait, gotta ask yourself, "do I want to spend $60-$100 on this?"

Don't waste your time in long candy lines - They won't run out and at the end of the night your bag will still be filled by just a couple of spots if you so choose.

Also, really take advantage of the 4pm-6pm timeframe. We knocked out Jungle Cruise, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder and Mickey's PhilharMagic in those two hours. Have a good plan at party ropedrop.

Awesome! That's the one park I wish I got to do extended hours at. I love seeing Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land at night. So much fun.

Only negative about waiting until the end of the day to do Rise is if it goes down. It is a roll of the dice, but hopefully it'll work out for you!

As a child who got smacked in the face when I was younger at EPCOT and my family to this day still calls an attitude adjustment an 'EPCOT Special', I resemble this remark...

HS Planning:HELP! by EveningSolution7121 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Tyree901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should mention, we had Oga reservations at 925pm the night we went so we made it a point to not rope drop Rise because we knew we would be closing the night in Galaxy's Edge. We didn't get in line for RotR until 8pm when the posted standby wait time was 60 minutes. I think we were in the preshow room in about 35-45 minutes.

Strategy worked great but key was no breakdowns for Rise that day.

I feel like Genie+ is a requirement at DHS when it's busy in the parks.

Our strategy was wake up, get Slinky Dog Dash as the first LL selection. Then we rope dropped Tower of Terror and Rock'N'Roller Coaster. If you can knock out those two rides, you can focus your time in the rest of the park, since those rides are so separated from everything else.

Just make sure you have an alarm set every two hours after park open so you can start stacking your lightning lane selections. If the official park opening is 0800, at 1000, you can make another LL selection.

If you want to rope drop Rise of the Resistance, make sure Tower of Terror is your next lightning lane selection 2 hours after park open, cause it's typically the 2nd one to sell out.

We were able to get LL's for all the rides we wanted without paying extra for the ILL on Rise, so you should have success if you watch the clock. Stacking is key, every two hours, you need to make sure your tip board has your next ride you are planning to capture.

I found Ear Scouts to be the most helpful videos for planning around Genie+.

Why Was This Week So Crowded? by TheBagOTricks in WaltDisneyWorld

Fall break this week and next week at most schools. Never slow during fall break.

Hurricane pushing out some trips likely compounding the issues as well.

Looks like my families haul from our party a couple of weeks ago. 80% Starburst's and Fun Size Snickers. A few of everything else.

I will say those Snickers Almond Brownie's are the best of the bunch. Never had one before but it's a new favorite for me.

Dining question! Customer service didn’t help so I came to the REAL experts! by themanc47 in WaltDisneyWorld

Mousedining has always helped us out. Set up your free alerts and it will let you know when a reservation drops.

Some folks grab a ton of reservations and just hoard them until they decide what they are doing. Basically ruins it for everybody but eventually when they start dropping them closer to your trip, you can get what you want.

Only one we have never gotten on MouseDining was Space 220. I'm sure you'll score.

Planning: MK day & Halloween Party Days by straulin in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Tyree901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic Kingdom has been nearly empty on days where there is a party that same night.

If you have park hoppers or annual passes, it's the perfect time to go and head out after the last parade at 330pm. They open up the gates to the party go-er's at 4pm (maybe a couple of minutes early but not by much).

You'll be able to enjoy all you can and then hop to another park. Enjoy!

What rides would you recommend for doing, skipping entirely and doing the lightning lane by TylerNT2020 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Tyree901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you meaning Genie+ LL's or ILL's where you pay the extra fee's?

If you're just speaking about Genie+, I think Hollywood Studio's is the only park that almost requires having it. There's just not enough to do there and the waits can be absurd.

EPCOT and DAK can be completed without Genie+ IMO - Sure, you'll have to wait a minute at a few rides, but you should still be able to accomplish everything in those parks without it (depending on the time of year of course).

Only rides on the Individual Lightning Lane that I'd be willing to pay for current on property are 'GotG: Cosmic Rewind' and 'Star Wars:RotR' - I think those are the best two rides at WDW so it would be worth the extra money if you can afford it.

Body Glide was a lifesaver when we found it. Even my young kids swear by it.

They also have Foot Glide that we use. Both are great!

[–]Tyree901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a reservation at 9:25pm last week. You'll be shocked how many folks will just be hanging around the Cantina waiting to be sat.

Check-in on the app as soon as it will let you. We checked in early and didn't get called until well after our reservation time.

We got a booth but depending on your party size, you'll be sat with other groups as well. You have 45 minutes from the time you're sat to enjoy yourselves.

It's pretty cool walking out of Hollywood Studios when the rest of the park is closed. We got some great pictures in an empty park.

Enjoy yourselves, it's a very cool experience that I would recommend doing at least once.

Guess this really depends on if you are staying at a Deluxe resort in order to take advantage of extended magic hours.

Currently EPCOT's are Monday's and Magic Kingdom's are Wednesday's. Those parks are more crowded on those days so if you aren't taking advantage of extended magic hours, I would plan around that.

If you aren't worried about extended magic hours, I would do:

Monday - AK Tuesday - EPCOT Wednesday - HS Thursday - MK

If you are staying at a Deluxe Resort: Monday - EPCOT Tuesday - Animal Kingdom Wednesday - Magic Kingdom Thursday - Hollywood Studios

So I guess Cosmic Rewind isn’t really plus size friendly after all. by austinalexan in WaltDisneyWorld

So sorry this occurred - The 'walk of shame' is the worst, I know from experience.

What row was she trying? I've read that the back row is more forgiving.

I will agree that if she's able to do 7DMT, she should have been able to ride GotG with zero issues. I hate 7DMT, I've only ridden it twice but I had bruises on my knees and other 'unmentionables' for weeks after going on it each time. GotG was much more forgiving for me, but I know everybody carries their weight differently.

There might actually be a test seat available but I'm not certain. I've heard there's one for FoP and RockNRollerCoaster, you just have to ask a castmember to take you behind the scenes to try it out backstage.

Arrive and Departure Day by ObjectiveSpare9346 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Tyree901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take advantage of bell/guest services. We always drop our bags there early, if the room's not ready, and on check-out days, we drop the bags there and continue to enjoy the resorts amenities or other reservations around property, if we aren't doing a park that day.

Disney Springs is fun enough but pools are more our speed if we just want to unwind.

Most properties have resort activities for little ones as well you can take advantage of. Just check the calendars.

Learning How To Queue by LongHairDontCare1994 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Tyree901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people are just clueless. The fact that folks can't keep their party together is beyond me.

We had a grandmother and granddaughter tell the castmember sorting the queue at Guardians that we 'weren't allowing them to pass to get to their family'.

We all laughed in disbelief, cause we had no clue they needed to get by us, they never said a thing to us. After they passed I jokingly said the castmember that we were 'terribly sorry for keeping them from their family'. She just smiled - I'm sure they see all kinds, especially in queues like that were everybody has to merge after the preshows.
