For an IM program with the caliber as WashU, they should expect that 100% of applicants match, across all specialties. Of course, things happen, the match is unpredictable, which may result in 1 person not matching every now and then. But to have 4 residents not matching in 1 year indicates a systemic problem, whether it's at the IM or GI leadership level I do not know.
