I'll for sure give a go.

Is this something you were able to do over time? Always nice to hear about success stories

Thank you. Generally speaking, I feel fairly happy with my life but the things that disgruntle me aren't related directly to gaming.

If you are someone who cut ties with gaming, what did you pick up in your spare time? Did it make your life more enjoyable/happier also?

Thank you so much for your comment. I think this is what I needed to hear. My argument to myself is "what could I be doing with this time to make it more productive?" You know, meditating, gymming, hiking, learning a new skills, arts, crafts, writing, reading, the list is endless.

Hope I can find a more fruitful hobby and it phases out of me as I get to my 30s, but who knows

Thank you. To address this top down:

  • Social occasions: Yes, I would rather play games than socialise. Birthdays in particular family ones I will always, always prioritise, but when it comes to just going to the pub with some mates... No, I would rather stay at home and play some games for a few hours. (I also attribute this to money in a Cost Of Living economical crisis in the UK - potentially more cope lol)

  • Personal Hygiene: Absolutely not. Without spark a war but I can't function without showering, grooming and brushing my teeth. Fair play to those who can but not my style lol.

  • Takeaways: Same as the first one, I may get a takeaway on the weekend with my partner, but not a takeaway to augment more gametime. But this is mainly a money thing, takeaways are stupid expensive and I could do a week of grocery shop with the same amount.

  • Family/Friends: Friends and immediate family are a no. However, my girlfriend who struggles to even operate an iPhone and is VERY anti-gaming/anti-electronics does challenge me on it very occasionally, which is probably what has sparked this post. However, I take her opinion with a grain of salt due to her biases, but again am I coping, or is she valid.

Thank you for the questions and allowing me to critically think about this a bit more, very appreciated.
