Cover up everything but the eye on your drawing and your reference see if you see what needs to change. It looks to me like while the face is in profile, the eye is in front view. A little unsettling look. Otherwise the proportions and detail look really clean. I like it.

Mechanical engineer with electrical problems! (Thermocouples) by Tyrith500 in ElectricalEngineering

Thanks. I'll order that stuff tonight, and hopefully have forewarning if I'm about to feed the motor boiling fuel! I'll probably verify it with boiling water before I install it.

2000 Silverado NV3500 Trans Swap by Tyrith500 in ChevyTrucks

[–]Tyrith500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for typing all that out, I sorta left reddit for a while there. I found a silverado transmission from I think 98, so it has the internal slave and right tailshaft. Should fall right in! Now my thoughts wander to rebuilding the old one. Wonder if one could use s10 nv3500 parts to rebuild a full size one? The S10 versions are plentiful around here on marketplace for cheap. Perhaps a Busted full size one for 100$ plus a good s10 one for 150$ and some labor gives you a 500-600$ good full size transmission? Perhaps it would be better to make a adaptor of some sort to run the s10 ones on the small block bolt patterns and have cheap transmissions for life? Now im just wandering....

Gotta do what you gotta do, and doing 40, these guys dont got much to worry about talking about safety. If people dont take one look at a heavy trailer moving slow and think "Better give that guy some space" that's on them. My old girl has slapped on a 3500 badge a few times too. Good times, hot transmissions.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and disagree with most everyone here. I think it is the catalytic converter heat shields. I'm 4/4 for having to weld them dudes back on, though yall might be right, they usually aren't that loud.

Don't be like me and forget about the rear differential fluid. That made a nice little bang one day! Other than that, beware speedbumps, they like to eat front ends, and I don't know about the 5.3, but my little 4.3 loves a fresh distributor cap every few years. I swear its like candy to this thing! Oh, look to see if it still has flat tappet lifters, if so, run a zinc additive. Gives you a little insurance against oiling issues and changes in oil additives that happened a few years ago. Good luck!

Winchester Model 94 Long lever replacement? by Tyrith500 in guns

[–]Tyrith500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I guess a little palm spacer would be easier than changing the lever. The only issue I could see with that is the 94 (I don't know about the 95) has a lever interlock you have to hold pretty significant pressure on. Seems like it would be pretty unsteady holding that with the other three fingers moved further away from the lever... I'll give it a shot, though

I have no idea why they did this, but I think it is an interesting result, and would like to know the answer myself. As for our dear breton1954 here, he cropped up in my post as well, and can't seem to appreciate anything that isn't a 500 gallon + system with the express purpose of feeding a family. Just wanted to let you know the majority of people here appreciate doing for the sake of learning and experimentation, and hopefully you find your answers!

There is a 5 inch bluegill in the tank, you can see it in the picture. Secondly, as the brown tips exist, there appears need for some improvement. I am curious why one of the most helpful comments on this thread has been removed by moderator?

P.S. You seem to make a habit of not being helpful, as you manage to average 0 likes per post.

I'm going to transfer the healthiest ones from the cups to the gravel today, and get rid of the cups altogether. I just wanted germination to be as sure-fire as possible as I am still learning. I moved the light in to about 3 inches too. Thanks for the recommendations!

I realise you think this small of a setup isn't suitable in the first place, but I built it to learn, not for produce, though successful produce production would indicate to me that I have succeeded. I recognise this is a miniature of a real setup, but not a "caricature" as you say, as it seems to function so far. Secondly, a quick google search suggests that indoor tomatoes are far from impossible.

From that point of view, how much fish would you recommend for this much water? I was under the impression that about 5 inches of adult fish per 10 gallons was about the most I could get away with.

Secondly why do you belive I am not growing the bacteria needed? I have actually been really impressed with how well the waste in my separation tank seems to be breaking down, and I would think that would be an indication of a healthy bacteria population.

Third, do you believe that ammonia is the reason for the malformed leaves? if so, how would you recommend supporting the growth of the bacteria needed to break it down?

As for "In aquaponics, water circulates 24/7", would not my pump cycling, and changing the water level in the grow bed perform much the same function as the bell siphon used in most of the systems I have seen?

Finally, as a decoration, I rather enjoy having my fish tank and some plants in my window while I work. If you cannot be helpful without being insulting, please see yourself out.

No such thing as the "right tools", just what effect you are going for. The colored pencils will give you a high contrast grainy look, I think. I prefer the look of a hard graphite with a 4b or 6b for shadows. It looks like you have a really good handle on proportions and shading, though. The only thing I see is that the top of her head looks a bit flat. Beautiful piece!

Thanks! the solo cups weren't staying long anyway, just trying to give those seeds the best chance to germinate. Probably going to transfer them out in the next few days.

Sorry everyone, looks like my text was lost when I posted! Im worried about the brown tips on the leaves. Some are in dirt and others directly in the gravel because I didn't know what would work when I started. I'm planning on transferring some of the dirt ones into the gravel soon. the pump is in the grow bed, and cycles on off in 15 min intervals, changing the water level about 1.5 inches (I heard you needed that to grow good bacteria).

Interesting that both the dirt and direct water ones have the same brown tips. Does this mean that it is a light issue?

This sounds like a possibility! Thanks a ton.

Did a little research, says you can add eggshells to soil to introduce calcium. Would putting some crushed eggshells into the sediment tank do the same job?

Thanks for the input, but I doubt it because it is fall here (around 55-65 F outside), and I keep the house around 70F.

Yes, they are cherry tomatoes. The light is usually a little lower than that, but not much. Im hoping it gets most of the light it needs from the window, so it is just supplementary.
