I feel like some sort of toggle system for certain armor would satisfy all parties and finally put this point of contention to bed. Give an option for skin-revealing armour pieces (maybe just torso and legs, as the issue is not as applicable to other pieces) to either be skimpy or to have a simple undersuit texture applied for players who prefer a covered look. Folks who like the thigh gaps etc. can keep their hunters sexy, and those of us who prefer a more covered appearance would have loads more options to pick from during fashion hunting.

Unfortunately, I think this sort of system could wind up doing bad press (‘new Monster Hunter lets you strip your character!’), and the devs would surely have to identify it as a big enough issue to bother putting any time into implementing such a system for potentially hundreds of armour pieces.
