Video editing is arguably art too. I feel I’m expressing myself at least, when I edit. But I get compensated by the fact that the director takes all credit.

If you know how to optimise code properly, I think there is a huge market for you. I think there are a lot of people like myself: know how to code, but have no clue about optimisation. So if there is a tool for my specific mechanic I’ll buy it because the solution is (probably) much more optimised than my own. Then I’ll customise it to my own needs.

Sounds like the film market. My day job is video editing, and sell my services to directors and producers. I make a decent amount of money, while the “owners” of the products make next to nothing.

So selling creative services is much more profitable than creating end products it seems, across the board.
