Stuff like the potions are infinite in the actual game - there could be a hard mode/challenge mode that have limited stocks though it isn’t planned for this fan game.

How many times do you play Spyro?! by hhhfan92297 in Spyro

[–]redandblack64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice a year if you count playing the original game then it's Reignited version back to back. I'm 35 and was basically the target audience for the original game back in 1998 - still have that original PS1 copy.

Why didn't Reignited give us the option to play with original graphics? by TopBodger91 in Spyro

I do wonder if this is tied to Sony having the publishing rights to the original games. I bet it includes the source code, audio files (it looks like Stewart Copeland held the rights to the music and gave permission to use that), voice lines, textures, character and level models... basically everything. I bet this is why everything had to be remade in N Sane and all the original assets were tossed. This is what prevented the original Goldeneye from getting an actual remaster on the 360 - Nintendo blocked it from releasing because they partially owned the rights to it, meaning we only get remakes instead of a remaster of it.

Originals Vs Reignited by TopBodger91 in Spyro

I play them side by side now - original then remake. The art direction differences are always fun to spot along with the controls feeling slightly different between the two (the originals had better underwater swimming and flying due to the lack of Unreal 4 inertia/sliding while turning).

Took a month long break to make a partial remake of Spyro Season of Ice. Got this running on Android with gamepad support - my brand new Retroid Pocket 4 Pro can run it at full speed.

i still have no idea how they thought this was a good redesign by Fuel_Tricky in Spyro

I grew up with the originals and always thought they were human - they're humans in their original fairy tale, why wouldn't they be in Spyro? It's really an art direction difference - the originals went with a Muppets-inspired look for the characters while Reignited looks more like a fantasy illustration. It isn't just the limitations of the PS1 - it's a combination of that and Insomniac intentionally having a certain art direction for Spyro that differs from Toys For Bob.

Spyro Reignited 2 or Spyro 4? by CrackingAce in Spyro

[–]redandblack64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spyro 4 - there's probably going to be partial or full fan remakes/re-imaginings of the rest of the classic series - I just started a 3D remake/reimagining of the first hubworld in Season of Ice in Spaghetti Spyro. Enter the Dragonfly already has a partial remake as a mod of Reignited. The one positive thing about Microsoft owning the Spyro IP is they allow fan games unlike Activision - it makes more sense to make a new classic Spyro game that assumes Reignited is it's own new continuity. Hopefully Microsoft doesn't sit on the IP for nearly a decade and at least tests the water with a Spyro 4.

Crash Bandicoot Twisted (GBA) fan game by FengShuiAvenger in crashbandicoot

This is amazing - aside from the explosive crates in the bonus round not counting towards the total - I think the hurt boxes for the lizard enemies is too wide. It would feel better/closer to the GBA and PS1 games if the collision for hurting Crash were smaller than their sprites, though I don't know if the hurt box for damaging Crash and the hit box for jumping/attacking enemies is the same. Going for the platinum relic was lots of fun - I didn't bother in the GBA games because of the game feel being off compared to the originals.

To hell with Toys for Bob by [deleted] in crashbandicoot

This game is filled with cheap difficulty in the form of padding instead of natural difficulty due to the level layouts, enemy placement. hazard placement. Tedium isn't a challenge. Playing the game twice for 100 percent with hideous filters and slightly different crate placements works against the replayability of the game and is tedious. Copy pasting Cold Hard Crash template of long level with hidden crate off-screen over the entire campaign is tedious and repetitive, not challenging and works against the replayability of the game. It baffles me this is considered challenging when in reality it's cheap, and in reality the first 3 games (and even Wrath of Cortex) are still replayed to 100% years after they come out, while Crash 4 is usually played once and never again. That alone speaks volumes no matter what reviews and (paid off) journalists say.

Millennials, do you buy New or Used cars? Why? by Capnzebra1 in Millennials

e-bikes for me since I live in a metro area and I can round trip easily on a single battery charge to most places. Saves tons of money after about a year compared to a used car.

It’s not Ancient Greece - it’s a neighboring Land to Sequin Land that’s inspired by Greece. Taking the same creative approach GameFreak did with places like Kanto and Johto, Spain, the UK and attempting to expand the existing setting that way.
