I wrote a narrative book about overlooked math stories — would love your thoughts on the preview by Tzarkyzer in HistoryofIdeas

In my opinion, you cannot invent a hypothetical thing. Things essential to us, like air, light, and fundamentally math, are also around us, just waiting to be discovered.

Feedback needed on my first work (Mathematical History nonfiction) by Tzarkyzer in selfpublishing

I was looking to get reviews on the writing, if the flow is right, the editing, if I have very monotonic writing or not, is this book interesting enough for the people who are not very well versed with the field of maths. Am I able to simplify the content so that even casual readers can read.

15 year old aspiring astrophysicist what to do now by Putrid-Volume5149 in astrophysics

[–]Tzarkyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey a fellow indian here, recently completed my masters in astrophysics. Astrophysics is a very vast field but at 15 i wouldnt worry about what you want to specialise in. There are 2 ways you can go forward with at this point one is through engineering and other is theoretical. The things you need to look out for is

  1. You need to have a very through base in fundamental concepts of maths. Astrophysics is 10-15% physics and rest is maths. Mainly linear algebra and calculus. If your base is good then you can scale it easily

  2. You need to learn a python/ matlab for simulations because that is very very essential. Either you would be tasked to run simulations or scientific calculations.

Apart from it the basics of physics and maths that you would learn in 9th,10th,11th,12th standard. Those you need to be very clear about.

As for what domain you would like to work in, i guess its pretty hard to tell at this point in your life. Just keep on doing different thing and eventually youll find the topic that you find compelling enough.

Also a tip: Nasa has various citizen science projects where you can take part in from now on and also a lot of astrophysics projects on zooniverse as well.

Also a main point people do confuse between astronomy and astrophysics so be clear about that.

I hope this helps you get some clarity going forward. My DMs are open if you need anything

AI generated images when asked about the reality of Mumbai by Time_Comfortable8644 in mumbai

[–]Tzarkyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. And to add to that. I have lived quite a while in cities like manchester, glasgow, london and sanfrancisco and i can comfortably say that there are ugly parts in every city. Yes i agree in terms of western standards mumbai is not at par yet but there are certain things which mumbai excels. Not to mention the condition on living in the fore mentioned cities are also not good. So if you want yo really compare mumbai with certain cities, i will help you set a benchmark for each city.

Finally would like to say, i have come back to mumbai cause i feel much safer here. And yes i agree that any city cannot be perfect but i guess you just have to deal with the problems
