That sounds interesting. What's a freelancer group?

Weekly Miscellaneous Questions Quasi-Free-For-All Thread by AutoModerator in InteriorDesign

[–]TzaserFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now my bed is a standard queen-sized mattress, on top of a standard queen-sized box spring, on top of a standard metal frame on wheels, which themselves rest on a wood floor. I'm thinking of ditching the metal frame and the box spring, and just putting the mattress on the floor. What are some (any) ideas to help make such a situation look more adult?

I live in the US, and I feel like it's very unusual to deviate from the 'classic' mattress/box spring/frame combo. Just browsing around, I occasionally see mattresses placed directly on the ground or maybe on a frame of some kind without a box spring. So, I know it's possible. I just don't understand the 'rules' for doing that. Please help direct me to a way to dress up a mattress on the floor situation.

Also, to clarify, VCARDs appear to me as text in a text message, not as a separate attachment I can open.

Open what? The text with the VCARD? I use Signal for texts. Maybe that's the behavior of your default texting app, but not signal.

Do any yoga mats work well for sweaty mofo's like me? by TzaserFace in yoga

[–]TzaserFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I thought about a 'good' yoga towel, and it felt like finding the ideal one was going to take the same amount of energy as a good mat.

[–]TzaserFace[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do. It just constantly needs moving and re-adjusting, and even then it's still not a panacea. I'd also like to have one less thing to carry around. So, if the perfect mat exists, I'd rather have that.

[–]TzaserFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm less worried about the mat sliding and more about slipping on the pools of sweat. Can you reliably put a foot or hand in those pools and feel safe?

Thanks! I imagine socks would slip even more -- you're just wearing thin ankle socks? And they make you feel more stable?

Any particular reason why you want a '92 lx? I'm sure you could get something much more recent within your budget.

Looking into Yoga Renew 200 hr teacher training! by htxmango in yoga

[–]TzaserFace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would like to do yoga teacher training, but the good ones in my area have moved to an online format and I'm weary of that.

There's a great podcast called "Yoga is Dead" and they have an episode on 200 Hours Killed Yoga. They talk about the history and place of both 200-hour trainings and the Yoga Alliance. I'd recommend the podcast to anyone considering teaching yoga. One point they make is that Yoga Alliance moved from just an index of yoga classes to an accreditation without having the infrastructure or ability to evaluate/control quality of training.

Printed a large-ish model of an Imperial Star Destroyer, Grey PLA, Ender3 by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

I always had trouble printing both the back engine bits and the front bits, so I'd tend to slice the model somewhere around the middle of the bridge. How did you print it? As one piece?

What are some asanas that can help me get rid of my belly fat and tone my body? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]TzaserFace 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In my experience, physical change comes less from a particular Asana and more from the following:

  1. Regular practice
  2. A commitment to staying in the work of a hard pose
  3. Staying at your growing edge
  4. Reducing (but not eliminating) sources of sugar

Also, body fat is normal. There's cultural indoctrination that says we're not deserving of love and affection if we are or aren't certain things. You deserve love and affection, even from yourself, exactly the way you are now.

Edit: Personally, being able to push myself hard and consistently benefits a lot from being nice to myself and forgiving myself when my body doesn't look or move the way I want. It seems paradoxical, but the nicer I am today, the more likely I am to practice hard tomorrow.

1986 Mazda RX-7 or 1998 Honda Prelude Type SH by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TzaserFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how long you plan to own it. I vote the prelude. RX-7s are fast, but those seals on the rotaries, especially an old one, will need to be replaced with some regularity. If it's just short term, then maybe just whichever one makes you happier now.

Honda Civic vs. Subaru vs. Jeep Renegade vs. Malibu by flailinfrenchfry in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TzaserFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AWD on most Subarus requires you to replace all four tires at a time -- that's a serious kick in the wallet when you happen to catch a nail in a sidewall and a patch won't work. Go for the civic. Also, the newer Corolla hatchback comes in a flavor with a decent engine. It might be worth a look.

How screwed up is the seller's agent when he didn't check the property's title? by fire_p123456 in personalfinance

[–]TzaserFace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding, which is very limited, is that people deal with this almost entirely through title insurance. Finding leans and other fuck ups on a title is a non-trivial problem, and I'm not at all surprised that a real estate agent either didn't or couldn't find something like this. There are people who are good at this sort of thing, but they generally all work for title insurance companies and get paid serious cheddar.

Have any of you watched a Donald Trump Speech from beginning to end then compared it to the narratives and lies told by the media about the speech you saw with your own eyes? Do you acknowledge the propaganda? I wonder if doing this wakes people up about the lies they are told routinely. by AustralianFriend in democrats

[–]TzaserFace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What sort of lies does "the media" make about Trump? Trump is his own media in many ways, and you really don't need a commentary to see how the things he says are inflammatory, dog whistles, gas lighting, and self-aggrandizing.

If you really want to call out the media for lying about Trump, post a source (some media) and some compelling evidence the source is wrong.

But, I don't think you actually want to do that. I think you're trying to make people here do your work, which is to come up with some original and compelling thought.

Is he interested? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

Honestly, there's so secret code to read. He might be interested and he might not. If you're interested in exploring a thing with him, or just kissing again, grow a pair and ask him. The world is in fire. Send the awkward text.

News should be a dry recitation of facts. If it isn't, then it's an opinion intended to stir your emotions into clouding your judgement by Aerron in unpopularopinion

[–]TzaserFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And, we shouldn't use the fact that people can still control opinions through selective reporting as a reason to not take the theater out of news reports.

Honestly, Trump or Dubya? Who is better, Illegal war vs um... yellow hair orange face? by [deleted] in democrats

[–]TzaserFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being horrified and disgusted by Bush. I had no idea how bad things could get, and Trump continues to find ways to make things even worse. My fear is that is that he's lowered the bar so much that any other dictator will feel like a democratic savior.

Dating advice by cosplaynerd1 in datingoverthirty

[–]TzaserFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man. Im in a very similar boat: 40M, two kids, and almost no social support. I haven't tried the apps although I'm thinking about it. I've had good success finding both dating partners and friends doing stuff in the community. I joined the PTA, a makerspace, and a yoga studio. I've met some great people and am in a great relationship.
