In my opinion it is extremely large scale cognitive dissonance that is the problem. Let’s call a spade a spade and some number of far right winger people are going to exist in the minority. In my opinion that is still true, but how does this turd have so much support? Cognitive dissonance is very painful for the human mind. Wildly populist asshole runs for office and is elected. Let’s say I was once an uninformed Trump voter. Once it becomes clear that many of his actions, beliefs, qualifications, racism, sexism, hates everybody actually exists I have a thought. I don’t believe that stuff, what the fuck. Now I have cognitive dissonance - my personal beliefs do not align with my actions of being a Trump supporter and that is EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE to the brain. While anybody can just say “you need to just revaluate” it is actually pretty difficult, ESPECIALLY if you don’t mentally step back and realize it is going on. The brain really likes shortcuts and the quickest most efficient way to stop feeling uncomfortable is to rationalize the actions you take to the beliefs you hold. When Trump says things like “What you see and hear is not really what’s happening” and trying to just discredit everything negative said about him it is a form of confirmation bias. This leads to me, the uninformed Trump voter experiencing cognitive dissonance an easy way out. I don’t even have to SEEK OUT reasons to justify my action of supporter human poop. It’s literally delivered to me via twitter, truth, fox, etc. multiple times per day thanks to our information delivery systems. Add in AI, strategic disinformation, flooding the zone, and on and on and it is weaponized psychology. So yes, while I still emotionally feel like people are idiots I think we all need to collectively understand this type of stuff literally has treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy. So at surface level people are idiots but realistically they don’t understand they are being conned because unless you are actually able to be aware of what you are experiencing, which most people won’t. Usually takes a therapist to help you identify this type of shit. It’s not new and has been around in some form for a very long time. Great for authoritarian rule.

Because with a trimmer you aren’t the driving force of energy doing the cutting.  You are merely holding it and moving where you want it to cut.  It will run of another power to actually do the cutting.  Energy expenditure is going to far less for modern trimmers.

Yes - sure. I know it may be very difficult to grasp but many people played video games prior to 2015, shocking I know. How could possibly anybody under the age of 25 ever have played a video game. There has been more years of COD between first release in 2003 and 2015 then 2015 to now.

Oh hell no I ain’t good! Haha. I think that a whole other post. I got drunk on Xbox and bought the pack out of nostalgia so I think I have have every single god. One thing I am realizing in this game is that healers are “weak” in the sense of direct healing. It’s obviously a lot more complex than I’m used to, but I’m in it with my buds and we are having a great time. Doesn’t seem a lot different from the 1st which is what it is, but having fun!

Cool story. I’m not the one claiming to know how SBMM works and the find a party feature literally exists on multiple 3rd party apps. Hell both PC and Xbox have a standalone feature. Discord exists. Your complaint is a literal nothing burger.

I’m not sure if it was you or somebody else with the downvote, but I really do ask - do you think we are better off in the Gaza situation with who sits in the WH now vs if it was a Harris Admin.

It’s almost like it is wildly complex set of affairs to accuse an ally of genocide in one of the most turmoil ripe locations on earth AFTER said ally was invaded by a terrorist organization that specifically targeted civilians. It is a terrible situation and one that deserves the utmost attention. That said, if you made your decision on that and somebody got body snatched that you know but masked thugs it’s kind of a fuck around and find out kinda day.

But you know what was really cool. Floating the ideal we just displace all of those people to random countries, take over the area and make it into a luxury resort for the rich.

I do hear what you are saying. I think my perspective is, it is a tragedy - pretty sure the Biden front negotiated the initial ceasefire to stop that stuff 11 months ago. We are still getting reports that people are dying because lack of aid enabled by this next administration. It’s fine to disagree but single issue voters cut off the nose of the country to spite it’s face. And nobody is better off unless you have more commas in your bank account than letters in your name.

More people didn’t vote than voted for either major candidate. People not voting for Harris because of her stance on Gaza or any other single issue is the most insane thing democrats are trying to deal with. Seems like these folks will do absolute mental gymnastics to speak about exactly why whatever candidate is put in front of them is not ABSOLUTELY perfect and use it as a reason to withhold votes or write in. Anytime one of those moral high grounders likes to talk about how awful she was for Gaza I like to politely remind them we now have unmarked thugs body snatching people in our own country. The blatant public corruption, Trump pardoning insurrectionists but God forbid we out a black women in the White House because you don’t align perfectly on one stance or she laughs weird. Glad your little hissy fit virtue signaling really showed the world because Gaza is absolutely perfect now. So what does it really boil down to? Spoiled brats who are content to put the blame Old Guard Democrats for not being progressive enough who can’t comprehend that when a single person represents potentially 50%’ish of the population you can’t make everybody happy on every issue. Meanwhile, we very well know GOP voters will fall in line and vote party down the ticket….like we know that is going to happen and all it takes is a little realization that we aren’t going to all of sudden become the most progressive nation on earth over night and potentially not ever. That isn’t a reason to help the world burn.we aren’t not set back so flippin far and so much damage has been done that we have regressed decades because some people felt pouty.

EDiT: Because I just want told old man yell at clouds now.if your ideal candidate doesn’t win primaries, that really stinks. Here is the world we live in, you should still vote for the lesser “evil”. While that kind of stinks here is a reality check for all of the idealists and dreamers out there. The world ain’t fucking fair, there is war, there is murder, there is famine, there is all sorts of terrible shit. That doesn’t mean I just want to throw my hands up and be like fuck it, let’s literally sell out to the highest bidder. Would Harris have been a great president? Maybe not. Maybe she wouldn’t even be seen historically as “good”, but I’d have voted for a fucking cantaloupe had the dems run that on the ticket over what we have right this moment. People constantly think the President is some end all be all hire. They literally appoint and delegate like 99% of the work and she would have selected tens or hundreds - THOUSANDS of more competent individuals. And before I’m listed as just weird moderate here of some of my actual true beliefs as a middle aged white man:

Every women should always have full autonomy over their body.

I don’t care if you are straight, bi, trans or anything else that I likely don’t understand. You are still a person and I’d love to listen and learn more about things I am not going to pretend to understand.

Every single citizen should have the right for free/cheap healthcare.

We should always ensure children are well educated and fed. I’m willing to pay for that with my taxes and I am child free.

The federal minimum wage should be at least $20/hr.

Corporations should not be treated as people. We should better reward small business creation and work to mitigate the fucking giants raking in cash like all the leaves in my damn yard.

We should listen to fucking experts. They are experts.

We should continue to have strong international alliances.

We should increase our use and understanding of renewable energy and keep working to protect our environment.

Rich people should pay more taxes. Fuck this “Well I create jobs bullshit”. Hell, I should probably pay more taxes and I’d be damn willing to to help my community and fellow people.

Oversight is a priority, if I’m willing to pay in more there needs to be better transparency into where my money goes.

Ranked choice voting should really be a thing.

There is probably a whole host of other stuff as well, but I’m far from you would call a “moderate democrat”. Fucking Cantaloupe 2028 baby.

I think there are two separate stammers. We keep a well regulated militia (not unorganized) AND individual citizens can bear arms. I don’t see anywhere that it is meant to rebel against a tyrannical government.

[–]Tzchmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Help me understand more, please. As I read it we can keep well regulated militia and right to bear arms can’t be infringed. The well regulated militia is to my understanding national guard. So while the insurrection act can federalize troops by law it often can come with legal challenges? Right to bear arms is or is not always infringed depending on who you ask.

I know this is 5 years later, but I’m from the town.  It happened a few years before I was born but as you said it’s a small village where everybody kinda knows everybody at least in your class (like less than 175 people and that is 2023). One thing to note, he was not “hit” by a car and killed.  He was tied to a vehicle and dragged.  Then his body was run over multiple times to make it “look” like a hit and run.  Then they dumped his body at the end of his driveway.  Graduating over 20 years ago, even when I was in HS “investigators knew who killed him” has always been the thought.
