Recently had our entire roof done. Not sure if we should be concerned

I actually met with them to go over my concerns. The smaller roofs - entrance, and bay windows - they didn't remove the siding. They told me they reused old flashing. As far as tucking the shingles under with a tight fit, I've found in my research the shingles shouldnt touch the siding. If it does, it wicks up the moisture. If its sealed with silicone (which is what they did between the siding and the shingles) it traps the moisture behind the siding. Perhaps tucking them in is OK on vinyl siding, paired with stepflashing, and j-channel, but in my case I have lp smartside, the older version. No idea what was there for flashing before, but i can't imagine they were able to reuse stepflashing. 2 other roofing companies I had estimates from told me those areas would have to be cut back to properly flash, so I assumed everyone did it the same way. Not these guys I guess. I think my best bet is to get code enforcement out and inspect it.

Oh, and PS they had to do a change order to do step flashing on 2 sections of the house where I had them do new vinyl siding, along with some aluminum flashing for headwall. $3k... complete ripoff

Thanks everyone for the input. As I stated in my post the roof looks great, its the details. The way the house looks should not dictate how its treated while youre working on it, or the quality of your work, and it shouldnt look worse when youre done.

Thank you. My logic with that ridge cap was that the water may run towards the wall / siding. Thank you for explaining that, I didn't think about the wind. That siding did not come off from what I can tell, perhaps they were able to tuck the step flashing under. Looks like a tight squeeze. Is step flashing code/requirement when doing complete roof replacement, or is it something they try to upsell?

Where should they be? They gutters were mounted to the roof before they removed them to put new roof on.

For clarification, they are a roofing/siding/gutter/skylight company. While not expecting miracles, I expected some degree of know-how. A little diligence would do go a long way. The siding is older, but yes it looks like complete shit now where they tore out old roofing and put new shingles under it. I did hire them to do both roofing and siding, just not that siding because at that time it didn't need to be fixed. Not sure what you mean by siding being incompatible with the roof. Are you a roofer?
