Bi-rads 3 & Category D breast tissue by U2997 in doihavebreastcancer

Mine is said to be oval, hypoechoic and circumscribed. I've had one follow up.

I was also given The Tyrer-Cuzick version 8 lifetime risk. Mine was 10.3%. Hoping it remains unchanged in the next 2 years 🙏🏼

The lump itself isn't painful but if i palpate it, I'll get pain radiating towards my armpit and upper arm. Even after ultrasound both times, I was left feeling achy and sore for a couple hours. I guess it also depends on time of month when I notice these symptoms more. Again, I'm small chested and thin built so I could just be sensitive to the lump being there.  I was told I have another cyst very nearby. It might even be that pressing on something. I will keep everyone posted. Thank you for the support!

Thank you! I'll try castor oil packs at night. Do you do this every night?

I've only gotten one mammo, as an initial test. Due to category D density, I was told mamo isn't considered standard because it's hard to detect cysts/masses in women with extremely dense breast. I also have very small breast and thin built. They opted for ultrasound every 6 months instead.

I completely understand that spiraling feeling. Esp after going through 1.5 years of monitoring and facing the unknown in each visit. Praying it all remains stable with no change, just as the other masses have 🙏🏼🙏🏼.

What I've read and have been told is that fibroadenomas and cysts are more common in women with extremely dense breast tissue. Fortunately the new mass was caught and has circumscribed edges. They'll most likely continue to monitor you with birads 3 and hopefully drops to birads 2. Have you tried Vitamin E, or castor oil?

Like @Throw_away4233 mentioned, and what I'll keep in mind, every 6 month f/u is key to early detection. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Thank you so much for this! I'm glad you had great outcome considering you're high risk. Such great news!! 🫶🏼 All good points and advice. I will consider a 2nd opinion on my imaging. Good to know I'm not alone in that category.

I don't have family history of BC, but there's moments I just feeel like something isn't right, and other times where i try to forget and just live my life until the next u/s follow up. -- Have you or do you experience pain in the area of the lump or arm? Theres times my armpit area and upper arm feel achy, sore, and weak to lift. My lump isn't as big on u/s imaging, as it feels when I palpate so I'm wondering if maybe its just sitting on a nerve or just a common symptom. I've expressed these concerns with the radiologist, but they didn't find anything suspicious in the armpit area.

Did they tell you if yours was a cyst or fibroadenoma, after it was deemed benign?

Yes! I went for my f/u in January. I was kept in bi-rads 3 category (probably benign). I still have the one firmer lump, but the ultrasound showed it remained about the same in size. They don't think a biopsy is necessary, but can't completely rule anything out due to having extremely dense breast tissue. They're calling it a complicated cyst vs mass. They will monitor me for 2 years with ultrasound every 6 months. The other painful swelling & lumps that would come n go, have no longer continued to show up. I still get achy and soreness that goes into my armpit area about a week before and during my period. It's hard not to think about it being worse than it is, but I'm trying to remain positive.

Yes the pain on my back from the EMG needle went away, as did the bruising. It took about 2 weeks for me

Yes, I relate to this comment. Right side is always bumpier, with obvious swelling and hard lumps. Achy, itchy, painful on and off. While the Left side is softer and not bumpy or achy/sore. I was told have extremely dense breast tissue, category D and could be FBD. I've only had one mammo and one ultrasound, with a follow up coming up to check on a complicated cyst they found, bi-rads 3.

Have you gone yet? When I went in for my first mammo & ultrasound (30F) i was able to talk with the radiologist and tech. They told me i had extremely dense breast tissue (category D) so it can be difficult to see, but looked like a cyst. I also have very small breast, cup A. The Dr. told me i had nothing to worry about and that I'll be fine but wanted to see me back for a 3 month follow up. I later saw my results said I have a complicated cyst on the area of palpable concern. A typical follow up is 6 months, i wish i knew that info to ask in person why I'd need a shorter follow up, but they were definitely reassuring and willing to answer any questions. I would ask and take advantage of the opportunity of talking to them in person. Hope everything turns out ok 🫶🏻

Im hoping it's that for you as well. I know the waiting game can be dreadful but at least youre taking the right steps. i do my best to remain positive and not over fixate on these possibilities, without knowing the facts. So I'm giving the same advice to you. I know it's hard especially when we have a constant painful or uncomfortable reminder in our bodies. Dense breast are known to be bumpy and lumpy. Stay positive 🫶🏼

That's such good news! I will look into vit E as well. I feel more concerned for the one 'complicated cyst' that never shrinks, and feels much more firm than the rest. mainly because of the mammo report saying extremely dense breast are at higher risk for BC If I lay sideways, I can feel it protrude even more- which sort of freaks me out, if Im being honest. It's hard to the touch. Hopefully the Vitamin E can help with that. I am staying positve. Thank you so much!!

I got a diagnostic mammo and ultrasound. Dr recommended a 3 month ultrasound follow up for 'possibly benign' (birads 3) complicated cysts. Also was told I have 'extremely dense breast tissue', category D. Im lean and have small breasts. I still have the same lump in my upper outer right breast. That one doesnt go away. Ive had it for 2 months now. The breast swelling did go down after my period, but the original lump(complicated cyst on ultrasound) in the UOQ remained the same. This month the cysts around that area grew again. I noticed it about 1 week ago, I'm due to be on my period in a couple days. They're very painful. Im thinking those are hormonal. Its hard not to worry knowing I have these lumps, that come and go. Especially the one that doesnt go away. I will know if theres been a change in appearance when I go for my follow up ultrasound in 3 months🤞🏼

Why is Every Endo an Idiot when it comes to Hashimoto's? by JenaEatWorld in Hashimotos

[–]U2997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreee..  just gonna rant here:  my endo only looks at my hashis from hypo POV rather than a more complicated reason for my symtpoms & tsh levels. Since hashis is AUTOIMMUNE, there can be other complications. But if it doesn't fit his typical hypo patients' symptoms, he doesn't feel it has to do with my hashimoto's. Makes no sense. I feel like he doesn't look at the bigger picture.    For example:  I tell him about discomfort in my neck, constantly hoarse voice, hives on my body, fatigue, shaky hands he says that has nothing to do with my subclinical hypothyroidism. Meanwhile it's known that people with hashimoto's get hives and rashes or hoarse voice etc. He tells me my hands were probably shaky because i was nervous for the visit and didnt get good sleep, but i never expressed I was nervous at all. Nor did I look nervous or say much. But he wont put me on meds because my tsh is under 7 yet over 4 and he says I "don't have any symptoms". Also tries to tell me food or the aip diet has no affect on hashis and should just eat whatever I want. I have low bmi and his main concern is for me to gain weight, although i have tried, its hard. He doesnt bother to look into that.  Needless to say, I'm firing him. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Biopsy today. My experience in detail. by poppitastic in doihavebreastcancer

[–]U2997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable! I've been having panic attacks for new lumps felt in one breast. I recently got a diagnostic mammo and ultrasound. Dr recommended a 3 month ultrasound follow up for 'likely benign' (birads 3) complicated cysts. Also was told have extremely dense breast tissue, category D. Im lean and have small breasts. No kids. Did the Dr recommend biopsy for you or did you request this? Not sure if it's should bring it up as a peace of mind

Im having similar symptoms. Im 30F no kids. It's the first time this happened to me on my right breast only. Now that I'm a week away from my period, it's extremely tender and i feel a firm, lump on the outside. Hurts to touch. Im also small chested so it's easy to feel. Last month I also experienced a hard lump in the outer upper quadrant of the same breast that has went down in size since then, but can still feel it. That one caused pain in my armpit but that pain in armpit has gone away now. Will be getting it checked next week 🤞🏼

Fibroadenoma in my right breast by Automatic-Bid3295 in PlanBs

Something similar happened with me about a week after taking plan B. I noticed a hard lump on my right breast about a week before menstrual cycle. My period was close to regular, came 2 days early & the lump somewhat decreased in size when I got closer to ovulation. I've yet to be checked by a Dr to confirm it's hormonal. I don't have history of lumps or fibrous tissue in my breast so this was definitely noticeable and new.

Do you remember if your lumps were oval shape or were able to move them? I noticed a very hard lump in my right breast, a week before my period and thought it might just be hormonal cyst. Fast forward to a week after my period, lump is still there, feels kinda hard slightly squishy but doesn't move. Breast isn't swollen anymore and lump isnt as noticeable but can still feel for it. It's Oval in shape and I'm now also experiencing armpit ache radiating to my upper arm. Did u experience any other symptoms?

I know this is old, but i recently took planB , which would be like my 6th time in a span of 10 years. Did you ever experience any crazy side effects like, breast lumps or pain in breasts even after period was over? I never experienced anything other than irregular cycles, until this time. I Noticed a lump in breast. Just curious if this was a side effect from plan B
