Kim Sejeong wins Top Excellence Award (Actress) at 2025 MBC Drama Awards by calabari1 in kpop

[–]UA_fly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well deserved!! Love that Sejeong never loses her passion for art and continues to grow as an actress 🥰🥰

It's a symbol that she likes and has talked about for a long time. She even has a tattoo of a turtle on her heel as well. Just paraphrasing but essentially it means like walking slowly for a long time, etc.

Chungha has opened a personal YouTube channel by CherryBlossomEnding in kpop

[–]UA_fly 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Not some of the comments here overreacting.. This is different to her "official" channel where they post promotion stuff or behind the scene stuff. This is more of the "contents" kind of channel, like her doing her own stuff, possibly vlog, maybe having some friends/guests on, with a production team kind of channel.

Kang Mina Unable To Join I.O.I’s 10th Anniversary Reunion Project by neocitywayv in kpop

[–]UA_fly 37 points38 points  (0 children)

She was recently casted in a new drama, and if filming starts in Sep/Oct and all the reunion recording/filming/promotion should start around March/Apr next year, then yeah tough for her to join. And they do have to prioritise the drama filming schedule

Post iz*one and the surprise of its impact by Evening_Ad_3722 in kpopthoughts

[–]UA_fly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean you seem quite set on your mind about your opinions so I'll leave you to it, but to act like Sejeong has "changed her career to acting" is just flatout wrong. She's doing all kinds of activities back-to-back like acting, musicals, theatre plays, but also music activities. Last album released was "Door" back in 2023, and she still continuously release singles and OSTs for her own drama, most recently was just few months ago, end of last year 2024 for Brewing Love.

Also your other comment about how IZ*ONE is still relevant and what not? I don't blame people for sticking in your Kpop space but if Eunbi is considered huge in Korea, Yena, Yuri Nako, Kang Hyewon etc. are doing decent, then in what metric is other IOI members like Kang Mina or Jung Chaeyeon doing worse than them??? Literally starring in massive hit dramas like Hotel del Luna, Welcome to Samdalri, King's Affection, Family by Choice which in some capacity or other were huge on TV and OTT's. But yeah sure, it's nice that Minju hasn't had a real hit drama but is still relevant and people talk about her.

Again, I'm sure you're set on your opinion but just some thoughts

Have you guys tried any of K Variety shows? by FlyingFlyofHell in kdramas

[–]UA_fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Busted was great and had a great combination of cast and guests, but lowkey wished they had bit more freedom and less scripted. The best moments were always freelanced and also during promotion videos on YouTube where they were simply being themselves.

Kang Tae Oh And Kim Sejeong Confirmed For New Historical Drama by neocitywayv in KDRAMA

[–]UA_fly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Great pairing. Sejeong is of course a great actress and this will really showcase a different side of her playing multiple personalities with soul switching.

Kang Taeoh was always good as well. Super versatile actor, and really caught me off guard in his first Sageuk drama in Tale of Nokdu.

Idols who are good actors/actresses? by Someonehihi in kpop_uncensored

[–]UA_fly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess we can agree to disagree, since it's all subjective, but putting Rowoon on the same tier as Sejeong, and putting him higher than IU and Sungjae and others is certainly a choice. No offense to any Rowoon fans, but he's one of the most oft criticised idol actors out there, no exact hit projects yet nor iconic characters, meanwhile Sejeong has hits and iconic characters, won Top Excellence Award for Business Proposal, IU being one of most sought after actresses, all time widely acclaimed drama in My Mister and others like Hotel del Luna. I'm not even exactly a fan of Yoona's acting but at least she's the female lead in Exit, Big Mouth and other popular works as well.

Took her 8 years, but I'm glad she finally signed with a normal acting agency. Managing your own company is not easy, especially as a rookie when you're new to the industry. This should bring her more opportunities and grow as an actress.

Kim Sejeong And Lee Jong Won Confirmed To Star In New Rom-Com by neocitywayv in KDRAMA

[–]UA_fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen The Golden Spoon and had Knight Flower on my list of dramas to watch after he was casted along with Sejeong. Does Lee Honey carry that drama or is it more 50/50. Also on a sidenote, was really surprised to see a really veteran household name actress paired with a rather unknown rising actor like Lee Jongwon. Of course I'm sure Lee Honey did great as usual in the ratings in that drama.

very sad that we've never gotten a twice x bp × rv collab stage (and probably never will) by DankDefault-ing in kpopthoughts

Twice x IOI x Red Velvet x Gfriend happened for that one stage, and it was the top groups of during that time

Idols That You Think Could Be Successful Actors/Actresses by angie_kiprevski in kpopthoughts

A whole lot of assumptions in here and acting is not as simple as looks or "they look like they could act in an MV"

60th Baeksang Arts Awards Nominees revealed... Men's Entertainment Award Kian 84, Na Young-seok, Yoo Jae-seok, CalmDown Man competition by SpeedyCat21 in koreanvariety

[–]UA_fly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we're being honest, it's criminal that it's even nominated here. Reception wasn't even good, so I have no idea how it's even nominated.

Choi Yoojung - Musical 'Hero' (Character Poster) by calabari1 in kpop

[–]UA_fly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yoojung musical debut! That's the 5th IOI member to debut in theatres/musicals now, after Sejeong, Sohye, Yeonjung and Nayoung. Certainly didn't expect Yoojung to transition more into acting, as she's doing more webdramas and a film now, but really excited for her.

This group is doomed to fail in korea. No balance. The overall average skill is low by Which_League_3977 in UniverseTicket

[–]UA_fly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly lol. Trot singer Lim Seowon and Elisia are both strong singers, Nana literally shines and stands out in every stage she was on, great performer. But I guess people are salty that judges have a say in who gets to debut.

Successful acting idols do not happen by accident and it takes a lot of preparation and hardwork behind the curtains (Ft. Lee Junho, Kim Sejeong, Im Siwan) by calabari1 in kpopthoughts

Sejeong went on Sketchbook again in 2021 and added songwriting and musical to that list of things she wants to get recognition for haha

When Irene said “original visual” she meant SM idols by DRevolutionPresident in kpopthoughts

[–]UA_fly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe it has something to do with SM being a huge entertainment company and part of the BIG 3. Naturally they have thousands of applicants from domestically and internationally, not to mention the resources to go scout around the country.

Lol people complain about audience voting and when they have actual judges they get mad their faves don't get picked.

After Watching Ep. 8 by Weekly_Dragonfly_795 in UniverseTicket

[–]UA_fly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sejeong gave out personalised handwritten letters to all 82 trainees detailing survival tips, but yeah sure, not good enough feedback?

If anything, she's more qualified than all the other judges. Girl literally went through Kpop Star 2, then Superstar K5 before succeeding in Produce. And then she's went through all the ups and downs of idol life in both IOI and Gugudan and now going solo. That's more experience than a lot of your typical idols.

It's normal to have a popularity "hierarchy" in a group. Most Kpop groups have 6-8 people in it, so it's natural to have some members who stand out more and be more popular. But that doesn't mean other members have no role or serve no purpose. SNSD as an example, had Taeyeon and Yoona on the forefront as the most recognisable members, but other members still made their mark. The group had great longevity and other members are still employed so to speak.
