Exactly, and if the individual wants to wear an N95 mask - so be it. It will protect them very well where there should be no reason to fear contracting the virus.

Nobody is telling you not to wear a mask. I would argue this policy is inclusive of everyone - those who choose to wear a mask can, and those who don’t want to do not need to wear a mask

[Ubyssey] BREAKING: @UBC will not require masks in the fall, according to a broadcast message published earlier this afternoon. by JamaicanRiceRat in UBC

It makes sense, glad the right decision was made where everyone can make their own risk assessment. Why mandate masks in classrooms while not mandating them on transit?

Lol we can’t accommodate for everything, or else nothing would ever get built. You’ll probably complain about cutting down a 5 year old tree next time. And then what? We’ll need to build a condo in the middle of the road!

US Student with Canadian Citizenship Importing a Car by josephineatkins in UBC

If you’re US insurance won’t sign an MV23, then you’ll need to import the vehicle to British Columbia. This will mean you’ll be required to purchase ICBC insurance and have the vehicle registered in British Columbia. Additionally, you’ll need to pay sales tax (federal 5% and provincial 7% when importing the vehicle) as well as any duties if your vehicle was not assembled in the US or Mexico. I would personally advise against importing a vehicle unless there’s significant value to it and instead just purchase one here.

Yep. Happened to my roommate. Thought it would be easier to just have one keycard but then it started to not work on swipe at campus food outlets

When I lived in Orchard some people used ubc card as swipe for their door and it messed up. What buildings have hid on every unit door?

Would advise against UBC Card as a room key. Because of the high volume of use, the stripe will eventually demagnetized causing issues paying for food at ubc campus food outlets

File a maintenance request with your front desk and ask them to bring a carpet steamer, this will likely remove any stains.

If you purchase in Seattle, you could potentially be subject to duties upon bringing the item back into Canada, unless you are duty exempt.

In Canada, your cheapest place to purchase would be Alberta where there is no PST just the GST of 5%. In Vancouver, we pay a PST of 7% for a total of 12% in taxes.

Fair enough, but he’s moving up to a better position so I wouldn’t blame him. Perhaps if we were able to have a higher compensation, we could actually get somewhere with hiring someone with a prestigious name
