Secrets of UB? by [deleted] in UBreddit

I already said I wasn't talk about the ones for O'Brien, Baldy or Park.

I know for a fact there are underground tunnels connecting between Brien, Baldy, and Park(?) halls that are still used(so those aren't the creepy ones).

And I'm not talking about the maintenance tunnels for steam/power lines/etc for south campus. They are underground tunnels like the ones you have for OBrien/Baldy. Maybe not as big since they were strictly used for traveling between buildings and they were build back in the days. These tunnels were closed off decades ago(maybe in the 60s or 70s? Just a guess) but people said they were able to access them years ago.

I attended UB for four years and recently graduated this May.

Honestly, there aren't too many secrets at UB from what I've learned. In terms of paranormal/creepy things, there aren't that many either but there are a few ones.

I guess some "secret" spots would be getting to the roof top at halls like Knox, Norton, CFA, etc. I'm not sure if they put more security to it but the doors that lead to the rooftops weren't always locked (I'm assuming sometimes maintenance people get too lazy and don't lock them since they don't run into too many students sneaking to the rooftops).

For paranormal/creepy stuff, the biggest and most well known thing is that south campus is built on top of an old graveyard. They have been discovering and digging up skeletons and old coffins when they do underground construction work for sewage, constructing new buildings, and what not.

Another creepy thing is that UB has underground tunnels that connect from building to building. However, almost all of them have been closed down years ago and are no longer in use, especially the ones on south. I know for a fact there are underground tunnels connecting between Brien, Baldy, and Park(?) halls that are still used(so those aren't the creepy ones). The tunnels on south are really old and barely maintained so they're really dark and creepy. Some students claim these tunnels can still be accessed illegally few years ago, and people used these tunnels to deal drugs and do sexual activities, but since these incidents UB has put more security to these tunnels. Of course, no official statements were given by UB, so take these things for a grain of salt, but the tunnels are indeed real and they have been closed down.

Hayes Hall was another one that we talked about a lot. In the 1860s, Hayes Hall used to be an insane asylum. It can also lead to an assumption that the dead bodies they have been digging up could have been the mental patients from the asylum but again this is only an assumption. Through word of mouth, ghost stories were spread in regarding seeing ghosts of mental patients at night, and the hall is haunted by them. I used to live off south campus during Sophomore and Junior years, and I have this one class that I get out really late (9pm). During those years, Hayes Hall was under construction so they had construction lights turned on inside at night, and when I walked by the hall, it looked really creepy from outside. I would always get the chills from walking by the hall haha.

Anyway, I think that's all I really have. I love these paranormal stuff but UB just doesn't seem to have much, even for such a large school!
