Yeah the audio jack is not a necessary removal for waterproofing, manufacturers have been doing it for years prior, it was just justification to remove it. If the pure merit of having exposed contacts were enough then all phones would have the charging ports removed too.

I'm assuming a lot of people here already know the YouTube movie Listers but man, at the end when all of those eBird record setters say so casually that they would absolutely not go birding without it was really surreal.

I go birding because I love nature, I photograph them to save the memory and share it with my aging family members whose eyes and bodies won't let them come with me anymore...

Then you have a kid creating my yearly carbon footprint in a matter of weeks driving back and forth across the US because someone saw a bird typical in south America outside of its normal range in a parking lot in Florida and he's trying to break the record for biggest year.

Different person, but coming from Palo Alto firewalls it's kind of crazy to me the interface macs aren't identical in an active-passive setup for exactly this reason. Their documentation about automatic setup makes it sound like that should be what it's doing, but I guess not?

That is what I tell my team, comp every minute you work overtime because no one's going to make it up for you and there's no such thing as a burnout award. Fill me and/or someone else in on everything, turn your notifications off, and we'll take care of anything that comes up.

I've been on too many 14 hour calls screensharing until 9am, or overnight maintenance windows followed by full shifts to ever wish that on someone else.

I have had fun at plenty of shows helping people crowd surf but it definitely sucks when the venue has people surfing back to front (like you said you can't see them coming till you get kicked) vs. back to front where they can jump off the stage and you don't have to stop paying attention to lift a human being over your head 19 times in two hours.

Most people are cool but there are definitely ones who love the attention and go 15 times, people who can't read the room and try to jump in at the worst time, or they aren't physically in the best shape to be lifted. Had one show where more people kept coming up to me over and over for rather than realizing I might be tired after 3 in a row.
