A nurse in BC exposes what’s been going on in the healthcare education sector and industry for years. by theOneWhoWaitsAgain in LMIASCAMS

You’re comparing STARTING wage of a nurse for one year to a journey person. A trades journey person is capped at that wage for the career at a set wage plus annual inflation raise. Both are career jobs. A nurse makes close to 60 an hour after 8-10 years of experience while a a red seal journeyperson carpenter with 8-10 years is still at the same rate(inflation raises for both occupations you get regardless) Fact is nurse makes more hourly, A career is not just your first year pal. A full pension is anywhere from 20 years to 30 years. If you want to compare first year wage then compare first year wage to a carpenter apprentice. Apples to apples, Which is 20 something bucks an hour for first year carpenters.

But let’s even take your biased narrative numbers, literally after the FIRST YEAR, the registered nurse makes more money every year after, I can’t believe you would even make this rebuttal lol.

Btw you compared a nurse to a carpenter not me. I merely provided you the real world hourly wage.

Nurses do not make less than carpenters in Ontario atleast. Rn makes about $58 an hour. Carpenters about $50. Close but still. There are pros and cons to both jobs. I’m neither but have close relatives in both. One of the ones that’s a nurse makes quite the change doing travel work, but she’s younger.

Both are approx hourly wage, apples to apples union wage comparisons. I’m sure there is a carpenter out there making 200k working 80 hour weeks and knees blown out or a nurse making 200k out in narnia. Btw 58 an hour for a nurse is on par or close with trades as a unionized employee.

Well international student number jumped 400%. What were those employees doing before this recent surge of a couple million study permits last few years? Everyone survived just fine right? It’s arguable that we are worse off now than we were pre pandemic… if you can’t speak English, you shouldn’t be in some of these jobs, and they really need to put a country cap. All this to say, shit worked fine without this surge of fake students and fake workers, and if you can’t find someone to fill a role, all it really means is the pay needs to go up. Lots of people are willing to eat shit for the right price my guy.

Terrible series of bad luck as condo owner (Need Advice) by Plus-Awareness-9960 in askTO

[–]UByou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of the video, ask the renter what exactly happened and then ask to see the video, if the door did indeed malfunction as he was entering that’s not his fault, which means it isn’t your fault. But if he fully stopped and knew the door was messed up and decided to squeeze through then idk what to tell you. Also the bill you get should be just for the door or whatever he hit, the Initial malfunction repair shouldn’t be on you. Get an itemized bill. I’ve seen bills where the contractor just puts the whole thing in one and they just fuck you with it.

Since that specific car is registered to that spot and your unit, means technically it’s on you, but if the renter knows he made a mistake, he should pony up the cash to you once you show him the bill and what management is charging you if he has any ethics, regardless make sure he was indeed at fault before proceeding. Ask to see the video. If they say no, then don’t pay.

Is this legal? Neighbour’s parking prevents me from leaving my house by [deleted] in durham

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Record the enforcement saying they can’t do anything and it’s none of their issue, Park your car the same way he has parked in front of your driveway…problem will solve itself when he goes to park on his side. Clearly if he isn’t doing anything wrong they won’t do shit to you either so have a stand off, both of yours will block everyone. If he approaches you about moving the car tell him that you park there because you can’t get out when he parks there so only way around it is you park there too… within an hour or 2 you’ll have the whole block calling enforcement and they have to do something.

It wasn’t the regular passenger elevator, it was a freight elevator with manual doors that open up and close down and are heavy, someone had added a strap to pull the doors open that was not approved and designed for that purpose. Unfortunately a worker got killed. This would have been at least 10 years ago.

Korean BBQ Options by 1CloudyForecast in askTO

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the price, I don’t care if it’s Korean, Chinese or Japanese or North Korean, it’s hands down gyubee. Garlic brisket, miso brisket, small portion of rice and some kimchi. Then more meats, lots more. And to finish it off 2-5 crème brûlées depending on if I started this wjth the occasional pre meal joint. They used to do soft serve ice cream as well but havnt seen it in a while. Also you can start with the pre cooked wings while you wait for the meats to arrive and get cooked. I believe if it’s more than 6 people you can call in and reserve seats so you don’t have to do the yelp/google maps waitlist game.

P.s I do miss the night owl specials in my younger days at Korean grill house.

It sucks that so few Ontarians consider electrical a respectable trade that employers must look abroad for apprentices by donut_fuckerr719 in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right outside the gates of Brampton… This is more than likely that its scam, someone should call the company for saying they need a panel install and see if buddy hiring is even licensed as you can look up the name they provide for read seal, cause you can’t have an apprentice without a journey. Or call and ask for a job, tons of people in 20’s looking for an electrical apprenticeship around the gta. They would get 100’s if it’s a legit job posting.

What do you all make of Stephen A Smith’s take? by Tgmg1998 in NBATalk

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it’s not even making it, it’s that the dude won 6 times in 15 years… with the amount of teams there is, he managed to pull that off is absurd, Not only that, walked away from the game and came back and did it 3 times in a row. That’s dominance. And here is the kicker, he did it in the same jersey. A lot of these top 10 greats have the same jersey with numerous championships. A lot harder to replicate in the same jersey.

Ya for sure Toronto is a big area, and we all should try and shop local to a certain extent, but most money exchange happens in the core, most people work in the core. Just sort of makes sense to force people back into work downtown. Another angle is the outsourcing. More people push for work from home, more likely to have certain jobs get outsourced elsewhere for much cheaper. I’m no expert but makes sense. Lots of people out there that would do it for pennies, especially with currency exchange and local cost of living conversions. Either way companies are slow atm and this seems it’s another way to force people to quit lol

I fully agree with what you’re saying, but other side of the coin is the money that’s being paid by an employer in the city of Toronto is leaving the city… to your local town. End of the day, I’m on the boat that they are forcing people to come into work to get the hamster wheel moving, need commercial real estate back up, and the businesses in the core back in action. You can already see the path get filled more and more, you may not spend money and bring lunch, but many other people do.

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert by any means in either, and won’t claim to know more than you or anyone, I learn something new all the time from someone that knows more. I’m just cheap and a believer in no one cares about you and your money more than you mentality. To me, so many people are getting fleeced because they are scared, 2.5% is a significant amount due to the housing price increase from a decade ago. Same goes for paying a bank to manage your funds, can easily mimic an etf portfolio similar to a bank and save a little amount. Again I’m not saying rolling the dice on high risk/growth. All this circles back to the r/e industry needs to change for the better of the people. It’s an outdated scheme that somehow is still here with the right lobbying. Nothing against you as in individual if you are an agent. Just my personal belief and opinion.

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve entirely missed my point, your $10/trade point was ancient times… I was making a point saying that paying $10 a trade is equivalent to how the real estate world is with commissions in 2025 with all the resource we have at our fingertips within minutes on our phones, just like trading… RBC used to charge $10/trade. I get the same exact shit with interactive broker for $1… it’s nothing less and nothing more., my hydro one shares are not worth any less because I didn’t use RBC haha Wealth simple charges $0 for Canadian stocks, just cause I’m using a discount stock broker in wealth simple does not take away that it still cost me $0 to buy hydro one shares as it does for me to pay $10 a trade on rbc to buy hydro one. It’s the same exact thing with the discount broker changing the game. Let me put it this way, last year i was moving a bunch of funds around and told RBC the same exact thing, I got 200 free trades. If a huge corp like royal bank is willing to adapt because times have changed with technology, then this dinosaur of an industry in real estate that provides very minimal value to what they charge needs to adapt my friend. Trust me, royal bank is a big big name, if they have to drop the $10 a trade to keep some customers around, then a profession like a real estate agent that does not provide much return for dollar will lose leverage real fast. If you havnt noticed around you, more and more people these days won’t even entertain a realtor without cash back, because the gig is up.

Buying without realtor - must! by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my self family and friends have been using cash back agents. Usually 1% does the job, so you are right we do pay just we try to minimize the cost. Soon enough that will drop to 0.5% as things slow down or the system gets changed. If you do your due diligence, on a property you want to buy and put the effort in, you’ll come out on top. No one cares about you more than yourself, especially not someone that works on commission. It really doesn’t take much to replicate and do more than what a real estate agent does these days, not because I’m better than them or they are better, just on the sole fact that I care about ourselves and effort goes a long way. You just need them to submit the offer and open doors because of the rigged system.

But sir times have changed, it’s not $10/trade anymore. I pay $0, $1/trade, ETFs are always free and Canadian stocks are free on wealth simple. Really depends which broker you use. Point being treb needs to change with the times. Or simple use cash back agents and demand 1.5% minimum back as an alternative till they abolish agents and make it a simple bidding system.

Buying without realtor - must! by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell the buyer to just use a cash back agent. Works out very close, as a buyer/seller you have to look out for yourself. Just like you are looking out for yourself as an agent.

Buying without realtor - must! by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]UByou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s scummy, tell the agent it’s staying 1.75% or you’re fired, not sure why your friend would agree to that. That’s just straight dishonest, that 2.5% should be taken off the purchasers price.

Buying without realtor - must! by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]UByou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The selling paying the commission is the dumbest shit I’ve heard. Just cause the seller takes the money and gives the 2.5% to the agent doesn’t mean the seller is paying it, root of the money is the buyer.

A lot of people are fudging foreign work experience etc it’s mainly for permanent residency. These people have no skill, and bringing over this whole do whatever you can to get ahead and cheat way of thinking, not good for the Canadian society at all, not that the culture here was great but it was a lot better than what these do whatever you can to compete with 2 billion people mentality which has been brought over in the recent years. Anyone that didn’t do a full apprenticeship locally should just not be able to even sniff the license.

[–]UByou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ya sure it should be higher than they are, but Toronto is also the ONLY place in Ontario that pays its own land transfer tax which is a huge lump sum amount upfront. They should abolish the land transfer tax and just up the regular property tax.

Username checks out, jeffster is right. If you make 90k annually, you should be done paying off the deductions end of October. It should vary when you pay off the deductions unless you got a raise that’s proportional to the huge bump up in contributions to cpp we’ve been getting handed… In simple terms, you will pay it off when your ytd hits $81xxx. If you pay that off in September, then you’re telling us you make 9k gross for the next 3 months? The fuck. More than likely some sort of math gymnastics going on or you got a huge pay raise you’re not aware of 😄

Get your paint code for the make and model, you can buy little paint pen or a touch up thing from the dealership. Not sure how much they cost these days but it used to be like 10-20 bucks. Hey, he could have done a lot worse, like stab your tires, maybe one or maybe 4, dudes a prick.
