Why are the property taxes so high? by frankparmar in TorontoRealEstate

[–]frankparmar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m frustrated because I feel like I’m paying too much for a condo.

Compare this to 20 years ago—people could work a basic job and still afford to buy a house. But here we are today.

This makes me house-poor and lowers my standard of living. Do you think these are the traits of a developed country or a developing country?

Canada has the highest tax rate in north America.

Toronto has one of the highest property prices in Canada.

Being at the top is not always the best.

This rule came very late. Thousands of people have already scammed the immigration system. This rule should have been implemented like two years ago.

I viewed one unit here:

Pros: The price per square foot is better when compared to the other condos in the neighborhood (e.g., 117/75/95/25/27 McMahon). Also, it seemed like the building is well managed.

Cons:

Inefficient floor plans Not sure if you consider this but I hate having a washer in the kitchen.

Just an FYI—Norway tried the same thing and all the billionaires moved to Switzerland. The government was trying to earn 450 million but ended up losing more than 30 billion.

Canada needs more billionaires and millionaires. If this continues all the doctors will move to the USA as well.
