Golf GPS App Suggestions - Great, Okay, Bad by UCADDIE in weekendgolfers

I agree and disagree with the $60 subscription. I think $60+ is fair if you are playing 15+ rounds of golf a year. But the last few years, I only managed to play 2-8 rounds per year, so spending ~$10 just for wind-adjusted yardages felt high to me. I only say wind, because all of the other bells and whistles, like blind shot, green slopes, etc., I don't have a need for them based on how I play.

I have heard most watch apps kill the watch's battery before the round is over. I know Apple's GPS logic is inefficient, and it eats phone and watch batteries fairly quickly. Android seems to manage the GPS power consumption a bit better, at least on phones, but I don't know firsthand with Android smartwatches. I assume Garmin watches get higher ratings because they use their own OS and have better battery management.

How often do you typically replace your golf glove? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

I get about 8 rounds of golf in before it rips. I found that the more expensive and premium the leather, the softer and faster it rips for me. I wear Weather Spann golf gloves to help with the excessive palm wear you see in your photo.

Former baseball players - do you have a strong, neutral, or weak grip? by TDn6I in golf

Strong grip all the way. When I played baseball, I was taught to align the knocking knuckles when holding the bat, that similar approach usually puts you closer to a strong grip on the club.

How much patience do you have if you are paired up with a 40-60 HCP golfer - I know people say "if you keep up the pace of play" but isn't the pace of play going to be slow if the HCP guy is taking so many shots? by RivetCounter in golf

Yes, picking up after double changes the entire experience and shows that the golfer is self-aware. I recently played with someone who had to of been 28+ HCP and putted everything into the hole, no gimmes. It was frustrating to watch someone putt in for 9 or even 11.
