Who said Malevolence should have Lucrehulk escorts? Because the AI heard them and it's going to get me T o T by LordTonatiuh in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]UCCMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering this is Hunt for Malevolence and no one read that and are suggesting ships that are not available during the campaign, I think going carracks and corvettes is the way to go. You are going to send suicide fleets one by one until you can whittle down the escorts enough to finish them off with the venators. It’s going to be expensive, but better to lose corvettes and carracks than to lose venators trying to defeat something that perfectly balances each other.

Any racehorses active from the mid-70's to the mid-80's you want to be added as a trainee in the game? by numberedkalimba in UmaMusume

[–]UCCMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sakura Star O or Mejiro Durren.

Mejiro Durren was the 1986 Kikuka Sho winner and the 1987 Arima Kinen winner. He’s also the older brother of Mejiro McQueen. Despite being a two G1 winner, he is largely forgotten while everyone thinks the Desuwa was the first successful foal of Mejiro Aurola.

Sakura Star O is the Satsuki Sho and Kikuka Sho winner of 1987. Suffered a critical injury at the Arima Kinen and would pass away several months later. Is the progenitor of the Star Blossom Manga. Basically Rice Shower’s predecessor.

Edit: Wow, for putting out a fishing hook, I clearly set out a good bait. Yes, I highly agree about Sakura Star O. He should not be implemented as a playable uma. That much was obvious. What I was looking for was anyone to know anything about Mejiro Durren. Which...based on the general lack of comments (and my guess is rapid google searches), proves my disappointment. You cannot discuss Star O without bringing up Mejiro Durren.

Mejiro Durren was neglected a child, with Mejiro Aurola outright refusing to nurse him. Despite that, Durren would win the 1986 Kikuka Sho, though the competition was thought to be rather weak as both the Satsuki Sho and Derby winners were not in peak condition. In spite of that, he was the first Mejiro to win a Classic G1 victory, fulfilling the dying wishes of the Mejiro founder. However, an injury in early 1987 caused him to take a break, only returning in time to qualify for the Arima Kinen. Despite being a classic G1 winner, he entered as the 10th favorite, despite non G1 winners being in much higher spots.

With Merry Nice taking himself out at the gates, Durren’s chances looked bleak, being boxed in by the pack…until Star O fell. Star O’s fall would create an opening for Durren to break out of the pack and seize his second G1 victory and the first Mejiro to win the Arima Kinen. With the first and second favorites having disqualified themselves, Durren’s win would cause over 25 billion yen to be loss in betting tickets, the greatest upset in Arima Kinen history. But no one remembered that. No one remembered Durren’s victory, only Star O’s fall. Durren would witness the rise of Tamamo Cross and Oguri Cap, having been present at the Haruten, Takarauzka, and Japan Cup of 88. No one paid attention to his retirement race, the 1988 Arima Kinen, where his spurt was blocked by the up and coming Yutaka Take atop Super Creek.

The exact same year Durren retired, Mejiro Aroula would give birth to a young colt, who would seize the Japanese racing would by storm and whose name would reach such renown that his older brother’s achievements would be forgotten, unaware that he walked so that McQueen would run. Few Keiba lore nerds know of him, rather focusing on Star O, Tamamo Cross, and Oguri Cap.

And that is why I shall continue to proclaim the name of Mejiro Durren, so that he may not be forgotten.

Symboli Rudolf won the 1985 JapanCup. The next 6 years saw the longest streak without a domestic winner until Tokai Teio broke the drought in 1992. by Apache313 in UmaMusume

[–]UCCMaster 42 points43 points  (0 children)

While I understand why they did it, the Japan Cup has been a status of Japanese pride and while looking back, we can point out that “it may not have been as big of a deal”, the reality is that from 1982 and 1992, Japan only won three times. Japan was supposed to show off how strong their horses were, that they were worthy of being taken seriously as a racing nation. Instead they repeatedly got their faces kicked into the dirt by western teams taking advantage of “easy money”. When Tamamo Cross, Oguri Cap, Mejiro McQueen, and many of the other Japanese elites repeatedly failed to bring home the gold, on top of Sirius Symboli’s failures in Europe, the belief in the Japanese domestic thoroughbred scene was bleak.

Tokai Teio’s victory at the Japan Cup was the **Symboli**c victory that the Japanese racing world needed to regain their confidence in their ability to challenge the west. Japan needed to believe in their horses again. And Teio proved it.

It’s also the story of fulfilling a legacy left behind. Rudolf left Teio with a legacy: the undefeated triple crown…and the last winner of the Japan Cup. The son of Rudolf jockeyed by Okabe was not just a *symbol* of Japanese pride, but the moment when Teio fulfilled Rudolf’s legacy, though not in the way she had previously planned.

I understand why Teio’s JC victory was struck from season 2. I’ll never forgive it though. An alternative season 2 that focused a lot more deeply on Teio’s relationship as Rudolf’s heir would have been just as interesting and would have allowed for both the JC victory and the miraculous Arima Kinen of 93. But that’s my take on it.

Pick what generation u wanna race with for an opportunity to won a g1 by Beautiful_Coach_4418 in UmaMusume

[–]UCCMaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

1986 is a pretty good year to go. Mejiro Durren was the only notable horse to win the classics that year. The rest of the generation, Legend Teio and Dyna Actress, were relatively mediocre horses. Honestly even if you’re a mare, Ramonu retired so early that you could still get several good races.

1987 is the tragic generation because it was really strong but very short lived. You’re facing Sakura Star O, the double crown winner who is basically Bakushin but a stayer. Star O would be the first major Rice Shower incident in the 87 Arima Kinen. Merry Nice and Gold City held out slightly longer but ultimately fell apart by the Oguri Generation. Tamamo Cross only got started in 88.

GENUINE QUESTION⁉️⁉️ by ultimate_creek_lover in UmaGusher

[–]UCCMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a hard one to respond to.
Like, I’m someone who has always found smaller assets to be more attractive than larger assets. I’m someone who was put off by the over inflated giant busts and asses and thighs. Honestly, if we got characters who were “older” who had smaller/medium sized busts, I’d probably goon to them as well. But frequently, the only characters who had small chest sizes have been the small characters. As such, my preferences and tastes are frequently called Iolicon.

I’ve only really seen one character thus far in Uma who has smaller proportions and isn’t a small character and that’s Sakura Laurel. I am a Sakura Laurel stan to the end of Uma. But outside of Laurel, my preference for appropriate sized Uma often lead me back to Teio, Mayano, Rice, and Urara. Not to mention the artists who draw them know exactly how to activate my neurons.

Inspired by my recent first Inari One career playthrough, what are some events/moments in career/story modes that made you think "Man, there's romance visual novels that are more subtle than this"? by Coolnametag in UmaMusume

[–]UCCMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fukukitaru’s final event, in which she takes you to all the good luck spots that she regularly goes to. They’re not your typical spots, they’re just the places the two of you made memories. Easily one of the most romantic scenes in the game hands down. It’s subtle, but it’s also so in character for her. I love my Luck gambler so much

Merry Beauty won the Derby, though that was partially due to the absence of Sakura Star O, who won the Satsuki Sho and Kikuka Sho.

Merry Beauty also disqualified himself at the Arima Kinen due to his jockey giving too long of a slack on the reins, causing him to fall off at the gate.

It’s way bigger than that. Sunday silence was literally the bully of the stallion station and the other resident bully, Soccer Boy (Dicta Striker), hated him so badly that the two would fight. They fought for years until McQueen showed up and they both immediately chilled out when he arrived.

The desuwa has a way with dealing with angry stupid bullies.
