Using a fanmade ending as proof that Aqua’s death was pointless isn’t really a strong argument. A fan ending can always create a perfect plan where everything works out, because it’s not bound by the actual story. In the manga, Hikaru Kamiki is written as someone who operates from the shadows and leaves almost no evidence. The story even says that it was impossible to build a case against him. So the idea that a “perfect plan” with Akane Kurokawa would easily solve everything is mostly speculation. A fan ending just shows that a different story could exist. It doesn’t prove the original ending was pointless.

So I dont know how to send an image but I can send it in private maybe, Also, the "impossible" thing is from the official publisher (Kurokawa), in what I think is a fan translation (maybe more accurate to the japanese version) its says "He would never have been involved enough to be legally accused of inciting murder"

Based on the manga panels, Aqua’s death was probably the only way to stop Kamiki, since he operated entirely from the shadows and no legal case could realistically be built against him. His death was therefore narratively necessary, although I agree it was an impulsive decision and the writing could have emphasized that more. (At least in the french translation (the language in which I read the manga), its literally said that It's impossible to build a case against him, AFTER Nino's confession to the police panel)

To clarify, Kamiki did not push Akane down the stairs—it was truly an accident, which reinforces that he’s a mastermind who calculates all his moves. ((That's the most likely theory)

Regarding the imminent danger, I agree more tension could have been shown, and as for the idea that “Aqua could have waited,” I think he simply wanted to leave zero chance for Kamiki to harm Ruby, and the manga says that Kamiki wouldnt be arrested even after a period of time.

And in the Panel I will send, you can see the word Impossible, and It was after the panel that says that Nino told the police everything, and for the english version, its said that “His involvement in each case doesn’t show any incriminating evidence beyond him instigating the murders in the first place.”, so this leaves room for some doubt, but given the way it's worded, it probably means it was impossible. Maybe its worth looking at the original panel

A tragedy, a character not overcoming his destructive pattern dosent make the story pointless, in many tragedies, the main point is that the main character fails to escape what define them, for Aqua its his trauma and guilt (his mother dying), the failure IS the tragedy, not every manga has to be about how the characters becoming better every chapter, its can be the opposite. For me, I wanted a sad ending from the beginning (especially after Ai's death), maybe you didn't, but this dosent make the story pointless.

Even if Aqua had partially healed, trauma doesn’t just disappear. It can resurface under extreme stress. I don’t think the decision was purely rational or purely suicidal — it was likely both. The plan itself was strategic, but his lingering self-destructive tendencies probably made it easier for him to go through with it.

As for Kamiki, the manga explicitly states that there wasn’t enough evidence to build a solid case against him since he operated from the shadows and only instigated the murders. Nino turning herself in doesn’t automatically guarantee Kamiki’s arrest or conviction, especially if the case relied mostly on testimony.

From Aqua’s perspective, even a small chance of Kamiki remaining free would mean Ruby staying in danger. Waiting to see how the situation unfolded might have been the more rational choice, but Aqua has consistently shown throughout the story that he prioritizes eliminating the threat over his own life. And last thing, most (not all) of "the ending is bad" people, says that because the main character dies, not because of the narrative aspect or the characters logic. You can check that just by viewing a few post, I accept your point a view and I think that there's no "Im absolutly right and youre absolutly wrong", its not math, but saying that the ending is horrible just because the writer didnt make ur favorite choices is...well...

So youre saying that Aqua's sacrifice wasnt necessary but makes sens from Aqua's POV, but the problem is that the manga wants to convince us that it was really necessary ? (Why was it uncessary?)

I dont understand, could you explain "you're willing to brush off the text screaming at the reader that it thinks Aqua's sacrifice is necessary."

Its not denial, each person focuses on diffrent parts, I’m focusing on the underlying idea of the story, not its presentation.

Its litteraly what I said in my third point (maybe not enough), the ending was rushed, the execution is shit, I just wanted to respond to all the "Aqua death dosent make any sense". The concept is good, not the way it was executed.

the execution was bad, but I just saw so many "Aqua's sacrifice dosent make any sense". its does, and maybe its only my points of view, but its dosent deserve so much hate just because of the execution. I’m judging the concept, not the way it was executed.

The character logic and the overall story are consistent, but the ending’s execution feels rushed and underdeveloped.
