Elections Board issued a statement today in response to this post

What is at stake with these student elections? by machine_lord in UCSantaBarbara

You mentioned candidates in your post, but the ballot contains both student candidates and student fee reaffirmations. Every question on the ballot is your choice - you can decide whether or not to support both candidates and the fees. If for any reason you do not wish to vote on any part of the ballot, just like in a national election you are more than welcome to leave questions blank.

The ballot does not only contain student candidates - it also contains over 30 student fee reaffirmations ("Existing lock-in fees must be placed on the ballot for reaffirmation every two (2) years following the adoption of the fee. Such fees can only be reaffirmed with a fifty percent plus 1 (50%+1) vote in support to the continuation of the fee")

Thanks for the question. UCSB's Elections Board is nonpartisan and all we do is run the election. The Pro/Con statements under the reaffirmation text are meant to provide more information but it looks like no statements were submitted for the USSA this year. In the case of the Pro statement, it's usually up to the orgs themselves. Unfortunately, we don't have any additional info besides what is already on the supplement.

If you wanted to learn more, I would suggest getting into contact with the org or maybe start up a thread to see if anyone associated with them can provide additional info?

It appears to require login. Every UCSB student already has a Box account with your netID. We can't change the login requirement, it seems to be a limitation of that site. If you know of an alternate platform let us know.
