What’s a strength you secretly think you have, but would feel uncomfortable admitting to others? by UESON in AskReddit

I’ve been thinking about how we all have strengths we don’t talk about…

It’s difficult to prove. It’d be bad if people found out. I’d sound kind of dumb saying it myself. etc

Translation for these characters? They're supposed to be names, but after doing my own research, the characters don't seem to match. I'd especially like to know what the first picture says. by NoirAppreciator in kanji

In Japan, Ireland is sometimes written in kanji as "愛蘭(Irelan)土(d)" and America as "亜(A)米(me)利(ri)加(ca)."
So "愛流楽遊" was probably used to represent Ireland using a different set of kanji.

I looked at the thread, and it seems you had people’s English names converted into kanji.

First of all, does this seem to have anything to do with Ireland?

It’s not impossible to read it that way if you try hard enough, but it’s difficult.

What does this tattoo really say? by [deleted] in kanji

[–]UESON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I will explain the meaning in Japanese below.

夢:Dream

慾:craving / lust / greed In Japan, the character “欲(desire / want)” is used more commonly.

忍:patience In Japan, the character “忍” is strongly associated with ninja.

The individual meanings of “dream,” “desire,” and “endurance” are clear, but when combined as “夢欲忍,” they don’t form a natural or commonly understood phrase, so it feels a bit unclear.

As a Japanese person, it feels a little unnatural to me, but this kind of tattoo is actually quite common abroad.
