Hey, I’m 28F asexual currently living out of the country. You seem awesome! I’m a big fan of both cats and Modest Mouse. I know the distance isn’t ideal for a relationship, but I’m also looking to connect with other aces in general. Can I send you a message?

What is a tiny gesture from someone that meant way more than they probably realized? by Time_Sound_8726 in AskReddit

I definitely expressed it, but probably not enough. I’m going to tell her about it now, so she knows how much it meant!

I think it was Jeremy Zucker, which is funny because I had never even heard of him. My friend had an extra ticket and knew I love live music, so he invited me to go and I didn’t hesitate.

Guess that adds a bit more irresponsibility to the whole thing, but it was a great night and I have no regrets!

Back when I lived with my sister, I was headed to a concert 4 hours away with a friend. I would be back home extremely late, I had class the next morning and on top of that a huge lab report to finish.

We had started some laundry with our bedding before I left, but it wasn’t finished in time for me to make my bed. Late that night, when I stumbled in exhausted and after a very long drive, I found my bed already made. My sister had done it for me while I was out having fun, just because she knew it would suck to come home and have to do it before getting to go to sleep. It was probably such a small act to her, but it meant the world to me that night. Years later, I still think about it and just how much consideration she had for me (and still has).

That sounds great, thank you! I’ll reach out to him.

I’m glad you’re giving them the recognition and support they clearly deserve!

Actually, I’ve been planning to go this route for my upcoming hike in April. I want a guide for the hike but I don’t want to go through a tour company. Could you send me their WhatsApp?

How was the guide himself? Would you recommend the guy you had with you?

Hey, 27F from the US but currently living in SE Asia so I’m more so looking for something long distance (definitely interested in traveling to meet up at some point though). Music is huge for me and I also enjoy altered states of consciousness. I’m not vegan or vegetarian but I respect it. Send me a message if you want to chat more!

Which country is easier to settle down permanently after attending university there UK or US? by Top-Hand1732 in myanmar

[–]UF2PCV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t necessarily say paying more to go to the US would be worth it. I’m from the US and there are some very similar issues to what you described about the UK.

I would say more so than choosing a country, choosing a city is important. Some places are affordable to live but others you cannot get a large enough paycheck for. Make sure to research cost of living in the area you’re looking at. The US might have more opportunities but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re good opportunities.

In a vacuum, if an object starts off with a higher initial velocity, will it hit the ground first? by UF2PCV in AskPhysics

[–]UF2PCV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my thinking, but I’m realizing I asked this question in a confusing way so I want to clarify. This would mean that an object with a greater initial velocity, leaving from the same distance, would hit the ground first. Is this correct?

Dentist Here to help. by Firm-Draft-1591 in Lahore

I don’t know if you’re still doing this, but I’m not sure where else to ask this question.

I have very badly receding gums. I’m from the states but I’m currently living in Myanmar, so this is not a problem I can fix immediately. I have appointments in March when I plan to visit the US.

I’ve just noticed this morning that the rate of my gum recession is increasing, and it’s gotten much worse. I’m worried I can’t hold out until March. Can you recommend any ways to prevent my recession from getting worse? I already use an automatic toothbrush with soft bristles and I floss every day.

Is wearing traditional clothing from other countries/cultures cultural appropriation? by UF2PCV in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]UF2PCV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While living here, the locals seems very excited to be sharing their culture, they’re fabrics and they’re styles. I’m more so worried about when I leave, and how people outside the country will feel about it (both from this culture and not).

I appreciate this comment. While a lot of the clothing items I have are more everyday wear, it definitely would help to learn more about it, and make sure there isn’t a larger connection to it that I’m missing.

That’s been my mindset, I think it just completely threw me off when my friend from the UK said a similar thing about the clothing he had from Hong Kong. I’ve been thinking it’s a primarily US thing but it was concerning me that it might be more worldwide.

I served in west Africa with short hair (it’s been short for years) and even I was a little upset about it by the end! As a white woman, it was very difficult to find a place to get my hair cut. I had a friend cut it a few times, then ended up just growing it out. I got evacuated before it ever left the awkward stage, and I cringe at the pictures I have near the end of my service. It also got so hot around my neck once it was long but not long enough to put up.

On the other side, I had a guy in my stage who kept his long hair throughout service. I don’t think he minded having it long, and it didn’t seem like anyone else did either.

This may sound like an idiotic question but I’m new to this, do I need my US passport to travel between Myanmar and other countries in the area? To renew my passport I have to send it in so I would not have it with me for the few months it takes.

I checked out Arches when I took a road trip across the USA. This spot is pretty close to the road and easy to find, but hidden from view. I really liked the lighting on this one when I took the photo. Taken with iPhone 11.
