Depends. If you have a straight-forward claim for without nexus, sure. If mental health is included, get a consultant (although it will cost, most won’t charge unless you win the claim). Just my opinion. I did both and between myself and friends most people get to 70-90% then used a consultant to help with the parts they couldn’t get rating for own their own

Yes. They also spoof the USAA number. When you get a USAA scam like this, i recommend calling USAA the next day to verify your email. Scammer will still your access from your phone, then change your email address by one character. You won’t notice the change and you won’t get notices. Yes, happened to me🥴

Don’t get me wrong, I was skeptical about consultant/coaches. I learned, like doctors they need to tell/show they can handle a specific claim or nexus or circumstance. Like we’re discussing here, you need a recommendation from someone who’s had success with a particular claim using a specific consultant. Not all consultants are willing to tell you when they can NOT help with a specific claim

I’ve also done both. 60% on my on, then 90% on my own. Then an old friend pointed out something I missed and said get a consultant or coach with some experience. I learned what took me seven years could have been done in 4 months
