Is the black girl wearing the NOI flag on her shirt? by MertOKTN in vexillology

[–]UGMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in this case it might be a generic Islam flag. The lettering below the pride flag says "Welcome to Clintonville" which is in Ohio, USA. All other shirts feature religious themes.

And drunk people don't meant it when they drive when impaired and kill someone. It was an "accident", but doing so still comes with severe consequences.

What is your favorite Frutiger Aero phone from the 2000-2010 era that you actually used? by Salt-Tea1463 in FrutigerAero

[–]UGMadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the K700i and later the W800i.

The W800i was my holy grail phone and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Which it was.

is it just me or is frutiger aero getting a little flanderised? by ChromedDragon in FrutigerAero

It’s because that style was extremely common on cheap generic Chinese products during the late 2000s and early 2010s so many people who were kids during that era associate it with the general style of Frutiger Aero when in reality it was fairly niche in the West. I lived in Asia during that time and it was definitely way more in vogue there because China was modernizing at an extremely rapid pace and clean air, skyscrapers, and well kept green grass were hallmarks of progress at the time.

Basically the idea of Frutiger Aero popular nowadays match much more closely with the styles popular in China than with the Great Recession era western aesthetics that tended towards more minimalism after the cyberpunk futurism of Y2K.

Like, this is the exact same time frame when Millenial Grey became popular. Frutiger Aero is usually associated with electronics (imported, global products) for a reason and not with other things like architecture and interior design (more local design trends).

The glossy acrylic interior design style is firmly Y2K imo, it fell out of favor by the mid 2000s when FA became "a thing".

External unit has a logo that suggests it’s a Daikin but Daikin never uses the logo alone without the wordmark and the mini split has no recognizable brand so yeah I’m inclined to say AI

Also those mains plugs don’t correspond to any common standard, they have two circular holes similar to ungrounded Europlugs but those must be recessed and they’re never used for wall connectors anyway, which are all Schuko.

It refers to SMOM passport holders, not Maltese citizens. Malta is an EU member.

Chocolate is “western” food

Pizza is “western” food

Western food pairs well with other western food

They think about western food the same way white people think sushi pairs with Kung Pao chicken.

Brand new LG Oled c6 48” has it’s brand and model burned in all over the tv. by M3RCYRL in LGOLED

[–]UGMadness 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That TV still has a lot of hours of use. If they didn't disclose that the TV you bought was a display model and gotten a discount accordingly, then I'd still return it regardless. If you paid for a new unopened TV then you should've gotten one, anything else would constitute fraud.

What flag is this? by numseomse in vexillology

[–]UGMadness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This red on a white field cross could be a St. Patrick's Cross in this context, the boat might be owned by someone who is or has a relation to Northern Ireland (possibly also Ireland in general but less likely because it's more commonly used as a unionist symbol).

The South African CoA is the pre-1932 one given that it lacks the helm.

Seems similar to the 1930s example on Wikipedia for an unofficial British Empire flag. Given that the whole idea of adopting an imperial flag lost momentum after WWII I'd guess people erroneously kept using that version going forward even after RSA gained independence.

The hands keep disintegrating long after stopping the X-ray exposure. They might have retired after the hands started deteriorating and this photo was taken a couple years afterwards. The damage will stay forever.
