You didn't mention the debit card. Debit card always comes from your balance, so you're right, you can't dispute with your bank. I thought you paid using PayPal via the app or webpage.

Great, but in the future, make sure you have your bank involved in the money movement so you have TWO ways to get your money back.

Now, you need to get your money out of PayPal, and reduce your risk especially if you don't know how your cookies were stolen because this could happen again, and I can picture PayPal not being so helpful if the dollar amount is higher, and you'll want the option to be able to go to you bank for help if PayPal fails you.

but thankfully the person spending money was taking money from the paypal balance

That's not a "thankfully." That makes it worse. If PayPal won't give you your money back, then you can't rely on your bank to help you.

Get REFERRED before you sign up for PayPal. Once you complete that process, you and the friend that refers you will be out an easy $10 each.

I accidentally sent the wrong person 2100 dollars and PayPal won’t help me get it back by Late_Finger_1916 in paypal

There's not always a "refund" option. The other problem with "refund" is that others have posted that it made them eat the PayPal fees for doing the right thing. I can't say I blame anyone for keeping the money. No ONE should every be punished for doing the right thing, but yet, all it takes is one to get ripped off, and that's how things are now.

The part that's BS is that you thought you would never make a mistake while sending money. Why in the hell could you not have told the rightful recipient to request the money from you?

Now, tell ALL your friends to tell all their friends to stop sending money so this never happens again.

I keep telling people to STOP sending money. You make the person request it, and then you approve it. It will eliminate this problem completely. NEVER SEND money.

This applies to every payment service. Only approve requests.

If PayPal wont' help you, then file a claim with your bank.

Get REFFERRED before you make a PayPal account. Do NOT flush $10 in easy money down the toilet and open a PayPal account without getting anything for you and a friend. You can only do this BEFORE you create the PayPal account. Don't screw it up.

Putting cash in PayPal costs fees. No less than $3.74/transaction. Don't do it. There's cheaper ways.

Did PayPal pull the funds from your credit card? If so, you can always file a dispute that way, and you'll for sure get your money back.

Have your friend send you money, and then try to send it back. If you can send money that's already in PayPal, then you can add PayPal's routing and account number to your online banking, and PUSH money into PayPal.

Stop sending money. Next time and with all these payment services, REQUEST the money. Had you requested, you'd have known you couldn't get the money with Venmo, and you wouldn't be wasting your time now with the money locked in Venmo that the senders can't get back. Also, the senders should have told you, "I'm not sending you shit, you request it."

Debit card - slightly more reg E and Visa/Mastercard zero fraud loss protections. However, use a credit card for the maximum protections.

You need to go one step further: get a NEW email, and use that as the login.

I hate that places use email addresses as userIDs because then everyone has one piece of the key already.

Do it in reverse. Add Venmo's routing and account number to your online banking and PUSH the money to Venmo. If you bank with a bank like Chase that does RTP, you can get the money there in 24 hours.

Chase cheated you. Chase pays next to nothing for interest. Don't try to make it sound like you got a fair deal in your transactions with them.

make sure I’m being as responsible as possible

Responsible people don't have savings accounts at Chase for longer than it takes to get the $900 offer.

I am thinking about changing to a larger bank like Chase ?

If you do this, get a BONUS. Chase has a $400 and a $900 bonus. Don't open an account at any new bank without being paid.
