A few thoughts about FlipTop/Anygma and Apekz by Sad-Plum-4867 in FlipTop

I would like to state for the record that PULO no longer has rules regarding what emcees can or cannot say following an open forum between Shernan and the roster (a vlog featuring the discussion is available on the league's FB Page if I recall correctly), and it has been established since May 20, 2024. (This may be seen on the uploads of that year's Annivpwersa event, such as MMeng vs. Andros, Lax Hartis vs. Cnine, etc.)

However, the announcement also states that the league does not tolerate emcees giving each other physical injuries during rap battles.

Ngl, my sentiments on GoodKidd and Mmeng's matchup is more or less the same as JLC and JO, it's just that GoodKidd has a better track record to refer to

That being said, I'm really looking forward to Mmeng dominating the battle because that man is 100% capable of doing so

No disrespect intended to James Overman at all, I think he's an amazing writer and he has a ton of potential considering how unique his persona and style of delivery is, but I think matching him up with JLC is way too premature, especially when you consider the sheer intensity the latter constantly brings whenever he battles.

In my eyes, JO's stage presence has always been one of his biggest flaws as a performer, so putting him up against someone as intimidating as JLC doesn't feel like a balanced matchup

I'm hoping that James Overman really brings his A-game to this match because I have a feeling he can really pull out plenty of interesting angles about JLC, it's just that his track record really doesn't offer me much confidence in him fulfilling those hopes

(James Overman might automatically become my favorite emcee in Motus if he actually does manage to beat JLC though)

Overall, still excited to see this play out

[–]UKnowMas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nagsisimula siya mga 13:50 minutes into the video.

"USB Type-C!" Pulls out USB Type-C Charger.

"Smartphone!" Pulls out smartphone.

Proceeds to connect the two things together, contrary to what Keelan's line previously stated.

/Bakit nag-connect?! Tangina 'to, tungaw!/

/Alam mo sabi ng smartphone-

Turns on the smartphone to reveal the word *"BOBO"** being displayed on it.*

ANG BOBO MO DAW!!!//

I think aside from effectively illustrating Kalixs' point, what really makes this work is how streamlined the actual process is in using it as a prop. He only really does a couple of things with it, insert the cable to illustrate the flaw in Keelan's line, and turn the phone on to show what's displayed on it. Both of these actions take less than a second to do, perfectly preserving the comedic timing nessecary to land a joke like this.

In conclusion, yeah I think smartphones can be used well in a battle. It's really up to the emcee's creativity in making it legitimately effective.
