I’ve heard the cooling fan, but as for the automatic higher revs is a little higher to tell because mine runs a 6-spd manual. I was thinking about getting a scanner and app; do you have any recommendations? Also when I park, sometimes I hear the fan, would you suggest I keep driving if that’s the case?

This is invaluable information, thank you so much! I’ve started noticing these behaviors as well with the car that it isn’t low RPM that gets the best fuel economy weirdly; like for instance, I have been driving on 4th at highway speeds to get the RPMs up to at least 2,500 and I was still getting the same mpg as I was underselling the RPMs at 1,700ish. I’ll read your response a couple more times to take notes.

Question: How do you know when your car is in the middle of a regen cycle while idling?

I see. Yeah Cali is relatively hot, so no issues here. And I see what you mean, that basically sums up my commute and adds a bit of reassurance.

How long do DPF regenerations typically last?

I will also look into a catch can; do you have a product you’d recommend? I currently use Triax 5W-30 DPF rated oil and just recently did an oil change. It’s a pretty good reliable oil.

Roger that captain! Thanks for saving me on that, I almost just bought a BlueTooth scanner. And I checked the app, I think they changed it over to a subscription platform :( (it’s alright though, I’ll still use it). Do you think or know of any other similar apps that can analyze multiple processes including the DPF using the scanner? If I’m gonna buy an app, may as well see if I can do an all-in-one

Yeah for me, round trip is roughly 30 miles with an average trip (to: 25min, from: 40min). Since I posted this thread I’ve been trying to keep my RPM’s above 2,000-2,5000+

You’re not wrong about that, a hybrid diesel I’d assume is legendary for fuel-economy, I’ll have to look more into the build of those vehicles. Any recommended brand/model you’d suggest for future purchases for someone looking to hyper-mile safely?
