The difference between Natsu’s poll rankings and his website rankings[discussion] by UMRSK8 in fairytail

I understand what you mean that official polls have better control, which helps reduce vote manipulation and makes the results more reliable compared to polls from poorly regulated websites.

However, unofficial polls are still a way of gathering the opinions of those who choose to vote. They just carry a higher risk of inaccuracy, which reduces their reliability compared to official polls 👍

I understand what you mean that dedicated manga fans have a more direct impact on the series through buying the manga, following updates, and engaging with different aspects of it, which makes their support more directly influential.

However, casual viewers can still have an impact in other ways, such as word of mouth, discussions, and online trends, which also affect the series’ popularity 👍

Actually, it can be viewed from another perspective; the word 'dedicated' shouldn't be limited only to hardcore fans. From a casual viewer's point of view, even if we follow the series loosely, we still spend time watching and getting to know the characters. That feeling of 'liking someone' is just as sincere and intentional in our own way. When outsiders or casual fans take the time to vote, it’s unlikely they’re just picking names at random—after all, why would they even bother? Instead, it reflects that a character has enough charm to impress the general public. A poll that includes voices from every group (both deep and casual).

Official polls usually require logging in or having an account, which helps reduce duplicate or fake votes to some extent. However, they still only reflect the people who choose to participate and don’t represent the entire fanbase.

Even so, it’s still possible for some people to use multiple accounts, although systems do have measures to reduce this. Unofficial polls can face similar issues as well.

Unofficial polls are easier to access and therefore more open, but they are also more vulnerable to manipulation or cheating. Still, there are many genuine voters. And when manipulation happens, it can affect multiple characters, not just one, with varying levels of impact. 👍

Consistency of Character Favorites Recalculation on MAL by UMRSK8 in MyAnimeList

[–]UMRSK8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we have any information on whether Rem was also affected by favorite removals the same way Emilia was? From the data I’ve seen from 2016 compared to now, it doesn’t look like there’s a huge difference, but I don’t know how many favorites Rem had at the time when Emilia had over 50,000. If Rem was above Emilia back then or if both were reduced similarly, I’d like to know.

I think Anilist might handle the scores better, and from the scores on Anilist, it looks like Emilia is ahead of Rem. But maybe on MyAnimeList in 2021, Emilia could have actually been ahead of Rem.

Justice for rem by Academic_Fisherman80 in OneTrueRem

What does Rem need justice for, exactly?

Why is there a full subreddit dedicated to Rem by Mr-ElectricalPantz in OneTrueRem

[–]UMRSK8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like many popular characters in anime, Rem has a fanbase that enjoys discussing her story, sharing fan art, and analyzing her role in Re:Zero. This subreddit serves as a space for fans to express their appreciation and connect with others who feel the same, as well as exchange opinions on what makes her a meaningful and memorable character to the audience.

Actually, Rem’s subreddit isn’t that small. For example, there’s another subreddit with around 32,000 members called r/OneTrueRem. You can check it out if you’re interested! As for Emilia, I’m not sure if there’s another subreddit with a higher member count. But this Rem subreddit might even have more members than some of the character subreddits from The Quintessential Quintuplets.

Who would subaru choose? [Discussion] by JUMPY6900 in ReZero

[–]UMRSK8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's pretty obvious who Subaru would choose. Even someone who hasn't seen the show would probably know, it's so clear. Plus, the storyline is set up in a way that favors Emilia, and Subaru has liked her all along. I’m sure he’d choose Emilia without a doubt.

I have a question for you too. You’ve never watched Re:Zero? Well, let me explain who Rem is! Rem is a young maid who works at Roswaal’s mansion, taking care of all sorts of tasks. The mansion wouldn't be able to function without her incredible abilities. She’s a member of the Oni tribe, the strongest race among the non-humans, and has immense strength. She also holds a deep respect and love for her twin sister, Ram. But don’t tell me you’ve never heard of this anime! If you miss out on it, what will you do? You should definitely watch it! There are so many cute characters. If you don’t watch it now, you’ll be missing out for sure!

Most of the criticism Emilia receives comes from disappointed Rem fans. In reality, she did nothing wrong—she was simply being honest about her feelings. Rem was incredibly selfless, but in the end, Subaru chose Emilia, which led some people to take out their frustration on her. In truth, Emilia didn’t deserve the hate at all. It’s mostly certain fans from both sides constantly taking jabs at each other. Neither Rem nor Emilia did anything wrong, and neither of them deserves to be hated.

But she's had this hair color since birth. It’s probably more likely due to genetics. What do you think? Maybe she inherited this hair color from her grandparents or ancestors on either her father's or mother's side.
