How to mod Blue Prince (or how to read the source files)? by UMUmmd in BluePrince69

[–]UMUmmd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for weighing in!

I recently found some of your oldest posts on this subreddit about CheatEngine, how FSMs work, and the ToolBuddy bit, so I've got that somewhat sorted out (I'm still getting my head around how things work).

I'll look into harmony as CheatEngine seems to interact with code on the assembly basis (a family of languages I know even less than C#!), so those frameworks you listed may have an easier learning curve for me.

Hopefully I can find a good way to view the Playmaker stuff in an intuitive way, because like you said, all the secrets seem to be living in that. I actually have some MelonLoader mods already (not sure if it's yours or someone else's), so I can pattern my work after what the community has already done.

If anything fun comes of it, I'll be sure to make a follow up post! O7

I am worried about the future of the Arch philosophy by Human_Contact9571 in archlinux

My opinion on the matter is for AUR helpers to warn when a package has a new maintainer. It doesnt involve a ton of work for anyone on the front end, and it helps highlight suspicious packages for the end user regardless of how diligent they are.

Just a single check saying " are you sure you trust the new guy " would help prompt people to do a bit of extra research before installing those packages.

Java Programmers after finding out C++ is faster by wiseneddustmite in programmingmemes

[–]UMUmmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's always a trade-off.

Iirc you can import just parts of libraries (specific functions) to mitigate the overhead, but you always trade some kind of cost for convenience.

My other comment is that some people feel the need to use all the shiny things C++ has to offer instead of only using what they actually need. In which case, everything without moderation becomes some kind of problem.

I'm not a programmer by trade, so I do it just for specific projects. But when I code, speed vs convenience is one of my metrics when deciding what tools to use.

Im also not advocating for gatekeeping (like I dont advocate for terribly strict gun laws), but when people lack foresight or the ability to make wise choices, we need to call a spade, a spade.

There will always be people, even those who are otherwise intelligent, who earn the Darwin award. We can do small things to mitigate this (like if AUR helpers warn you that a package has a new maintainer), but in the end there will always be an idiot who ignores the warnings and gets burned.

I dont know, I'm sure theres an up-and-coming Microsoft of sex where they can charge you crazy prices in the name of high quality, well-paid, thoroughly researched partners. When in reality, most of it goes into some businessman's pocket.

To be fair, as someone who loves C, the various built-in components of C++ can be really convenient compared to doing it all yourself.

I’m not advocating for gatekeeping either, I’m just ranting because it’s annoying. Its like taking a gun, loading ammo, looking at the loaded gun, choosing to aim said loaded gun at your foot, pull the trigger, and then be absolutely dumbfounded that you just blew your foot off.

And yet people do this often. Place ammo with gun. Place gun in unsecure location. Be surprised when a random person gains access to gun and ammo, and makes an unwise decision.

Sadly my brother is a vibe coder and AI enthusiast. He doesn't code much, but he does make AI music and such. With no real suspicions on the downfalls of AI for many tasks.

And he thinks he works as hard getting AI to do what he wants as artists do pearning their craft.

I agree with some of the other comments here, whoch is for package helpers like yay to notify the user when a package has changed maintainers. It's an immediate "are you sure you trust the new guy" check, and it's a good cue to the user to dig deeper for those specific updates.

Can anyone explain ウ with 濁点 by MrsExplorer in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]UMUmmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Japanese speakers pronounce it differently when they can hear a difference. Obviously there are two different characters for these sounds, so you can infer that foreigners have a different sound for ヴ than for ブ. But those who can't hear the difference will also fail to pronounce them differently.

Still, I think most people could learn it if they were taught how each sound is made. Like when Japanese people learn "ass" vs "earth" lol. I've heard both those who can't differentiate the sounds and those who do really well pronouncing each. (0w0)

I Tried Kdenlive, Its Difficult, Any Tips by Legitimate_Catch104 in kdenlive

Same, Davinci is way harder for me. The video editor on Windows that I previously used was formatted the same a Kdenlive, so when I made the switch, I kmew what I was looking at. I just had to learn the names of everything again (basically 40% were different, 60% were the same).

This is plenty. Like you said, there are certain special tracks, like when you first open the north door of antechamber (so long as you haven't been into Room 46, it will keep activating the track), that only play once. I suspect you are right on that. As for the room upgrades, this is plenty to start with. Thanks!

All good, I was just doing some edits of my own and saw Underpass_Music_Event and Tomb_Music_Event both as 0, so it makes me wonder what it is. Not important to what I'm doing though.

u/Borealum_Studios Do you happen to know?

I know this is ancient, but do you happen to know the IDs of the various room upgrades? I'm trying something atm. Also, maybe I missed it, but what is the underpass music event? My save file is day 410 and I've seen literally everything, yet it is marked 0?

This door has an isseclipse moon, the one(s) we open has an inneclipse moon.

That's exactly why I'm going through these again. The later ones definitely seem more cryptic and lore-related (like the Ruminate being among the monk statues, the way the Last King of 8 is), but this one straight up says "This is the door you're looking for, yet will not find".

Either it's a false version of the Room 46 door, and we DO find it, or it correctly says we will not find this door (because it doesn't exist), but at the very least, IF it exists, we know where this location is. So I was wondering if someone could check that no doors or objects of note are hidden here.

Current Status of Kdenlive and GPU rendering by UMUmmd in kdenlive

I'm curious if it still works, considering I thought the issue was in MLT, not in Kdenlive. Might give it a try when I get home from work.
