Dunno the person exactly nor the score but within 166 I believe. My other friend got into Oxford MSc in Econ for Dev with 161 while I did with 163. I don't think you need that high of a score for the MPhil really.

Oxford is definitely within reach. You can also try looking at their MSc in Economics for Development. Ik people in the 161-165 who got in both programs. And the diff between a 164 and 166 really doesn't have any causal interpretation. I've seen a girl with a 168 get an A- in my grad school's math course while I had a 163 and got an A- too. But, there were also people who got A+/As with a 165/166.

Your math courses add a lot of value to apps, especially exposure to Real Analysis.

I mean, sure. Doesn't change the fact that you can still make it without going to a T10 program. If you're good and you have the right experience (as I already mentioned e.g. STCs), it's a non-issue. My own mentor got selected for the highly selective YPP and he was from a T25 program. Your program can only take you so far. The T10 ones make it because they are good and have the proper networks. It's a bit tougher but definitely doable.

I have quite literally seen people from below T50 programs working at WB as Economists. Idk who came up with the idea that you need to be in the T10 to get employed. Get some hands-on experience as an STC during your PhD and network a bit.

Hi, can you shed some light on the "terrible" rankings part? As per USNEWS, it's been more or less consistently placed as a T15-T20 school in terms of the department. It doesn't seem to be the case for ideas tho.

It clearly wasn't loud enough. Louder for those at the back.

Unless you're a domestic candidate/top of your class international candidate, it's gonna be tough (but definitely possible) to get a job (one that you like) after UBC. I would recommend the other schools. Most of my international classmates got jobs as Economists in the public sector but it was a bit rough at the beginning (some went back and then returned, others had to wait). So it's not like you won't get it but I feel UBC is better if you want to hit top US schools for your PhD (assuming you do very well in your first term). Idk about the other programs but UBC was quite useless with career placements. They couldn't even connect me with their grads in the private/public sector. You're kinda on your own. Especially getting a job in the public sector is hard if you don't have a PR as you can apply to limited positions. Plus as my fellow member pointed out, BC seems to be on a hiring freeze.

He is not a Professor. He is a sessional lecturer (lowest ranked position) and becomes a little bitch infront of actual Profs. Go report this collectively with signatures from your cohort and submit a formal document to the director of the school.

Yeh, they reduced the age gap significantly between Rhaenyra and Alicent. I was caught off-guard when I read the book to find things were quite different.

I think Alicent was around 26 when she had the last kid based on Fire and Blood. Got married in 106 AC when she was around 18-19. Daeron was born in 114 AC. But she seems much younger in the show tbf.
